Multicultural Family Vocabulary word search, scramble and crossword puzzle

I made this multicultural family vocabulary puzzle set for my 2nd and 3rd graders during our social studies and family unit. The kids could talk about their own families but had no idea what words like multicultural, tradition, or celebrate meant when we shared stories about different family customs. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like family, culture, tradition, celebrate, language, food, music, name, story, and country. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the vocabulary finally stick.

The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or indoor recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether a tradition has to be the same every year. The crossword I use for partners or as a review. I added a couple simple family, globe, and heart drawings but nothing too busy.

Works for K through 3rd grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers draw their family and label one tradition on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.
