FIVE SENSES IN THE RAINFOREST MINI BOOK AND SENSORY ACTIVITIES

Australia’s Daintree rainforest is the perfect destination for Pre-K and kindergarten learners to focus on their five senses. BOOKS: Two versions of “Fantastic Five” – one a basic read-along, the other an interactive read-along.

STEM:

Activity 1: Two Australian tour guides will lead learners through 19 PowerPoint slides where they will listen to rainforest sounds and play a fun thumbs-up/thumbs-down game.

Activity 2: learners will build a bandicoot pouch and estimate the number of bandicoot joeys that can fit inside.

Activity 3: through the use of water play, learners will investigate the way water splashes from various heights.

CRAFTIVITIES:

#1: using glow-in-the-dark paint, learners will paint a glow worm and learn a fun rhyme

#2: while listening to relaxing rainforest rain sounds, learners will use pipettes to create a watercolor masterpiece.

#3: using peppermint scented paint, learners will create their own version of the Daintree’s peppermint stick bug.

#4: with pre-cut yarn pieces, learners will cover the rambutan fruit in soft, hair-like spikes.
