Following Directions on the Job Task Box for Transition Class

About This Product
This following directions on the job task box builds direction-following in three levels, from one-step directions to work orders with numbers and "if" rules.
Why I made this: Job coaches and employers tell me the same thing: the student can do the task, but they lose track of a step or stop when something does not match the direction. This box builds direction-following the way it happens at work, from one step to work orders with "if" rules, and it teaches the most important habit of all: asking when you forget.
What’s included (22 pages):
- Level A ●: 12 one-step direction cards with a picture and 3 choices
- Level B ■: 24 two-step direction cards about order, place, and number
- Level C ▲: 24 work order cards with more steps, numbers, and "if" rules
- A first, next, last mat, a "How to follow directions at work" page, and 6 cue cards
- 3 practice pages, one for each level
- Answer key for every card
- Data sheet and a 10-session accuracy graph
- A try-it-for-real page with an adult check
- Ideas for practice at school, home, and job sites, and blank cards
How I use it: I teach the 4 steps (listen, repeat, do, ask) first, then students work on their level in the task box. During school jobs I give real 2 and 3 step directions and take data with the adult check.
Who it is for: Transition, special education, life skills, and vocational teachers, job coaches, and paras working with students in grades 9 to 12 and 18-21 programs.
What you download: Following-Directions-on-the-Job-Task-Box.pdf (22 pages, US Letter, print-ready).
