Grade 8 Financial Literacy word search, scramble and crossword puzzle

I made this financial literacy puzzle set for my 8th graders during our math and life skills unit. The kids could count money but had no idea what words like budget, interest, or credit meant when we started learning about managing personal finances. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like budget, income, expense, savings, interest, credit, debit, deposit, withdrawal, loan, debt, invest, and goal . I also included a few like "compound interest" because they kept coming up in our class discussions . Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the vocabulary finally stick.

The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or independent practice. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about the spelling of "withdrawal" (it's a tricky one) or whether debit and credit are the same thing (they're not—they always have opinions about it) . The crossword I use for partners or as a review, and I usually have a personal finance anchor chart or a simple budget example nearby for the kids who need the visual support to see how the terms are connected . I added a couple simple piggy bank, coin, and dollar sign drawings but nothing too busy.

Works for 8th through 9th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers write one savings goal they have on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.
