Tone and Mood Worksheet Using Reading Passages

Reading short, manageable passages helps students to understand the concept of mood and tone without overwhelming them. In this resource, your students will practice with 4 passages, be able to identify a mood from the list provided and feel confident to find supporting proof from the passage to support the mood they chose.

Use this as independent practice, an assessment or with a small group to teach the skill. You can also use it as a carousel so that students visit each story to identify the mood and chat with a partner about quotes from the passage to support the mood they chose.
