Teaching tips & learning objectives

Learning objectives

  • Build a specified cup-stacking pattern (e.g., 2-1 pyramid, 3-2-1 pyramid, 6-high stack) from a written diagram.
  • Combine a physical movement (lunge, curl-up, mountain climber, crab walk) with a stacking task in sequence.
  • Time a stacking attempt and compare it against a personal best.
  • Complete a head-to-head stacking challenge against a partner.

Teaching tips

  • Laminate the JPG card set or the single-page PDF version so cards can be reused station to station without reprinting.
  • Group cards by movement type (stationary vs. traveling, like the crab-walk and scooter cards) to organize stacking stations around the gym.
  • Use the PowerPoint version to display one card at a time on a screen for whole-class instruction before students rotate to individual stacking stations.

Skills covered

  • physical education
  • motor coordination
  • following multi-step directions
