Spiders, scientifically known as "arachnids," are fascinating to many people, especially kids. And there are so many different kinds. I learned a lot while creating this reading comprehension activities pack. Kids will read the article (link provided to the article inside product) and answer the questions. Many of the questions are fill in the blank, some are multiple choice, some true/false. There are also multiple essay question, writing prompts. And a bonus section for motivated students to look at what the Bible says about living things. Students will be given the opportunity to choose which side they are on regarding evolution vs creation, without judgment. They will be required to research and support the side they choose in their essays. Answer keys are included for the objective questions. The product is simple: 31 questions, including multiple choice, true/false, plus two short writing prompt type questions, one of which is partly subjective, but requires a thoughtful answer. Extra credit questions are included. 33 vocabulary words - can be used to increase student comprehension, increase scientific vocabulary, and can be used for alphabetizing and/or spelling tests. 8 Bible verse references - Bible as literature is an allowed subject in the public schools. Also, just looking up verses and drawing your own conclusions should align with standards. This activity is optional, of course. One bonus activity for students to write their thoughts on the 8 Bible verses. Two essay questions, one considered a "challenge." Can be used for extra motivated students or students who are trying to improve their grade. Of course, any writing a student does will build your writing fluency, especially when writing is done in a variety of fields, including, science, history, literature, etc. Answer keys for objective questions. My products are never grade specific, because students are at different levels even when they are at he same grade level in school. Probably 4th through high school would be the most appropriate. Arctic Survival – Team Building Activity

Without a doubt, history is a topic that can be easily overlooked by our students. Sometimes, it can be difficult for them to make connections with the past in a way that makes sense to them. Being able to provide students with meaningful resources is the best way to get over this learning curve. Whenever you have a social studies topic to introduce or review, you want to find engaging products that you know your students will be able to learn from. Within my store, you will find a plethora of social studies resources to utilize with your students. What You Get: This is an Artic Survival Team Building Activity. There are 13 slides in the presentation . There is a Survival Score Sheet as well as an Answer Key + Teacher Guide. All 3 products are editable and can be accessed digitally. How To Implement This Resource: This is a team building activity that will have students ponder what kind of process makes for “good decision making.” Students will begin by being presented with the following scenario: “Your plane has crash landed in Northern Canada at night. The crash has killed the pilot and co-pilot. You and the others have discovered 12 items in the wreckage. You will be asked to rank the importance of these 12 items to your survival. Then, your group and you will rank them together.” As the teacher, you can decide on how large or small you want the groups to be. When all students have finished their individual ranking, allow them to come together with their group and propose new rankings. This will require students to talk to one another and listen to other reasonings. When students have finished their group rankings, they will have the opportunity to reflect with 4 questions. Students may find that humans make better decisions when they are able to consider diverse experiences. The Answer Key provides a ranking and rationale that was composed by former instructor in survival training. To Build A Fire by Jack London (Alternate Ending Writing Project)

This is a super fun project I've done each year with my ESL classes but it would be perfect to do with any with middle school or high school students! In this packet, students will complete a plot diagram for the story, identify a spot where a critical error was made (there are a few to pick from so everyone's stories will be different!) and then create a NEW plot diagram starting from that point! This helps the students create an alternate ending! *Need a follow up activity? Read the original 1902 version of 'To Build a Fire" and compare it to the better known remake from 1908!*
