A classroom calendar and weather display is a tool used to keep track of the day, date, season and weather conditions. This display contains visual images to help children further understand and relate to what weather is being displayed. Displaying the date in a classroom can help children learn about time and develop their sense of time. It also helps them understand the the sequence of days and months and can assist with their organisation and planning skills. Additionally, it can provide a sense of routine and structure within the classroom environment. Displaying the current season and weather in a classroom can help children learn about the natural world and develop their observational skills. It encourages them to pay attention to changes in the environment and can spark their curiosity about the world around them. It also helps them understand the relationship between the weather and the season and can provide context for discussion about seasonal activities and events. Additionally, being aware of the weather can help children dress appropriately and be prepared for outdoor activities. This display will be most effective when individual pieces are cut and laminated and then velcro used to put on and take off pieces. Each book has a matching PowerPoint, making it suitable for various settings. This book tells the story of Caligula's attempt to conquer Britain. The Jack Stories, of which this book is one, introduces one phonic sound at a time, and subsequent books build on the vocabulary of the books before, constantly revising and reviewing learned sounds. Build a Tower! Phonic Game: OO

Here is an ultra fun game to help pupils learn to sound out words with both the long and short forms of OO as in moon and book. When introducing OO words, many children have particular difficulty sounding out short OO words. This game can take the stress out of learning. How to play The game involves each player having a baseboard upon which to build his/her tower. Players aim to be the first to build their tower and win! Word cards containing both long and short OO words are scattered on the table - with an 'oops' card hidden amongst them! Players take turns to choose a card. If it is read correctly, the player places it on his/her baseboard and begins to build a tower. Teachers and parents may give the child as much help as needed to read each word and turn it into a teaching opportunity. With more confident children, you can change the rules so that the card is returned face down to the table if it is not read correctly. If a player chooses the 'Oops' card, then the whole tower is wiped off the player's board and the cards are returned to the table, face down and play continues until someone manages to build their tower. Your pupils will have so much fun they will forget that they are learning! Games take the pain out of learning! Writing Prompts Writing prompts are designed to continue the theme or lessons learned in the story. Students are persuaded to write in a variety of ways and each prompt includes several cues to help. As with the spelling/vocab section, writing prompts will vary. This includes research pieces, reading responses, poetry and creative writing prompts. Full Answer Keys Full answer keys and sample responses are provided so no matter how busy you are, you know you're covered! Mixed question answers provide evidence from the text, math questions contain the relevant workings. Answers are designed for use by the teacher, but also suitable as a handout to the student. Just for Fun Each lesson will have a bonus extension exercise. This is something fun to extend the lesson with. You can find these at the end of each lesson, titled Just for Fun.
