Project Template US States for MS Word

Project Template US States for MS Word
Social Studies, Government, History, History: USA, Geography, Grade 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, Templates, Teacher Tools

This is a Microsoft Word template for group/project work about the states of the United States of America. Each page contains a title, a small outline flag and a map of that state. The maps have only state borders, no cities or other things. Students can use these pages as a starting point for their project work. This file is editable, so the teacher can give students these pages as Word documents, and students can then fill in the information with their own device. Or, these pages can be printed out and students can create their posters on paper. The value of this document is to provide pictures that are hard to draw so that the students can focus on the content. For that reason, this is suitable for many grade levels. The pictures are at the bottom of the page so that students who are not so familiar with technology can more easily fill in their text. You can of course move the pictures around, if you want to. The font that is used is Seymour One, a free Google font. If you want exactly the same look as in the preview pictures, it is advisable to download the same font, but it’s not necessary. The states are in alphabetical order. The flags are of black and white outline style for easy printing and coloring.

"Belief Systems No. 1": Regents Global 9 CRQ + Video Lessons

"Belief Systems No. 1": Regents Global 9 CRQ + Video Lessons
Social Studies, History, History: World, Grade 9, 10, Teacher Tools, Assessments

Regents Global 9 CRQ "Belief Systems No. 1" + Video Lessons This product is a constructed-response question (“CRQ”) in the format of the new New York State Regents examination in Global History and Geography. The CRQ calls upon the student to examine historical sources (I use exclusively primary sources) by providing historical or geographic context, identifying the point of view, intended audience, or purpose of a document and then using the two documents in either compare-contrast, cause-effect analysis, or turning point identification. I advocate a strategy of assigning one CRQ in each unit of study in grades nine and ten without access to notes. I used this as one of the tests at the end of a unit of study. I would tell students about what kinds of documents would appear and what historical context they should be able to recall in advance. It is a challenging task for them. The first challenge for novices is to understand what it means to provide context. Faced with the question “What is the historical context of this document?”, beginners will retell what the document says. The reason for this mistake is that, since they were little kids, teachers have asked them to relate what a text means to prove they understood it. [ Read more at the Innovation blog ] Product includes: 1. Student version 2. Teacher version with suggested answers 3. Passcode to video lessons students can use to prepare the task.
