Oceans of the World word search, scramble and crossword puzzle

Oceans of the World word search, scramble and crossword puzzle
Holiday & Seasonal, ELA, Reading, Language Development, Vocabulary, Kindergarten, Grade 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, Word Searches, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables, Crosswords Puzzles

Oceans of the World word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this oceans of the world puzzle set for my 2nd and 3rd graders during our geography unit. The kids could name the ocean we live near but had no idea there were five oceans or what they were called. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like Pacific, Atlantic, Indian, Southern, Arctic, ocean, sea, saltwater, current, tide, wave, continent, equator, and depth. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the ocean names stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue over which ocean is the biggest or coldest. The crossword I use for partners. I added a couple simple wave and globe drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 1st through 4th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers list the five oceans in order of size on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

Famous Astronauts word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this famous astronauts puzzle set for my 3rd and 4th graders during our space unit. The kids knew Neil Armstrong but couldn't name any other astronauts or what they accomplished. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, Sally Ride, Mae Jemison, John Glenn, Yuri Gagarin, Jim Lovell, Apollo 11, space shuttle, first woman, first American, first human, moon walk, and space station. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help these names stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue over how to spell "Gagarin" or who walked on the moon first. The crossword I use for partners. I added a couple simple space suit and flag drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 2nd through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers pick one astronaut and write one fact about them on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

Olympic Sports word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this Olympic sports puzzle set for my 3rd and 4th graders during our summer games unit. The kids were excited about the Olympics but only knew the big ones like swimming and running. They had no idea what words like "pommel horse," "peloton," or "repechage" meant. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like athletics, archery, badminton, basketball, boxing, canoeing, cycling, diving, equestrian, fencing, golf, gymnastics, handball, hockey, judo, modern pentathlon, rowing, rugby, sailing, shooting, skateboarding, sport climbing, surfing, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, tennis, triathlon, volleyball, water polo, weightlifting, and wrestling . I also sprinkled in sport-specific terms like "peloton" (the main group of riders in cycling) , "pommel horse" (a gymnastics apparatus) , and "repechage" (a second-chance race in rowing) to build that Olympic vocabulary. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether skateboarding and surfing are real Olympic sports (they are now) or what a "pommel" is. The crossword I use for partners. I added a couple simple torch, medal, and rings drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 3rd through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers pick a sport they'd want to try and write why on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

Friendship Story Vocabulary word search, scramble and crossword puzzle

Friendship Story Vocabulary word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this friendship story vocabulary puzzle set for my 2nd and 3rd graders during our reading and writing unit. The kids loved stories about friends but had no idea what words like friendship, trust, or kindness meant when we talked about characters and their relationships. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like friendship, trust, kindness, share, help, listen, care, play, together, and support. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the friendship vocabulary finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or indoor recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether a friend always agrees with you. The crossword I use for partners or as a review. I added a couple simple heart, handshake, and hugging stick figure drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 2nd through 4th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers write a short story about a friend using three words from the puzzle on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.
