Variables and Expressions word search, scramble and crossword puzzle

Variables and Expressions word search, scramble and crossword puzzle
Holiday & Seasonal, ELA, Reading, Language Development, Vocabulary, Kindergarten, Grade 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, Word Searches, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables, Crosswords Puzzles

Variables and Expressions word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this variables and expressions puzzle set for my 5th graders during our algebra unit. The kids could solve problems with numbers but got confused when letters showed up in math. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like variable, letter, symbol, unknown, expression, term, coefficient, constant, operation, plus, minus, times, divided by, evaluate, and substitute. Examples include x + 5, 3y - 2, 4n, and a/2. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the algebra vocabulary finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether 2x means 2 times x or the number 2x. The crossword I use for partners. I added a couple simple x and question mark drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 5th through 6th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers write an expression for "a number plus 7" on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

Holiday & Seasonal, ELA, Reading, Language Development, Vocabulary, Kindergarten, Grade 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, Word Searches, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables, Crosswords Puzzles

Spanish Nature and Environment word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this Spanish nature and environment puzzle set for my 3rd and 4th graders during our Spanish and science unit. The kids could name nature words in English but had no idea what words like árbol, río, or montaña meant when we started learning Spanish. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like árbol, río, montaña, mar, lago, cielo, tierra, flor, hoja, semilla, planta, sol, luna, estrella, lluvia, nieve, and viento. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the Spanish nature vocabulary finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or indoor recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether "río" and "arroyo" are the same. The crossword I use for partners or as a review. I added a couple simple tree, river, and sun drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 3rd through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers write a Spanish nature word for something they saw outside today on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

My "Life of Saint Valentine" activity pack is designed to make it easy to teach students of all ages about the life of St. Valentine. My specific recommended age range is pre-k through 5th grade, though special education students of all ages will benefit as well. Of course, many older children enjoy coloring, so the coloring sheets can be used as a way to make the day more interesting, as a reward, or as a way to occupy busy minds after completing required assignments. Pre-readers will be able to participate by coloring the pages and can be guided by the teacher who can read the sentences and ask the questions verbally while the pre-reader is coloring the images on each page. Students who are reading and writing, or learning to read and write, will get further practice in developing their reading and writing skills. Students who are able will also be required to research the life of Saint Valentine. Students will learn about multiple historical Valentine persons, including one female. Students will not only develop research skills, but critical thinking skills as well, because many of the questions require them to think outside the box. Included in this activities pack: Challenging Crossword Puzzle with answer key included Not too easy Word Search with answer key included. 10 Coloring Pages, each with a question that can be answered verbally or in writing. Space is given for writing, or a separate sheet of paper may be used, depending on teacher preference. A Word Scramble Worksheet - Word Bank is included to help simplify if needed. Teacher could remove the word bank if they want to make it more challenging. Answer key is included. 5 Short Answer writing prompts as well as one 1-2 paragraph writing assignment. Students are asked to choose one of the Valentines to do further research. Reference/Resources page to help with research. While students are working on these activities, they will be increasing vocabulary because many of the words may be unfamiliar to them. Each page is bordered with a beautiful Valentines Day theme. See images for example. Total usable pages, including answer key and reference page: 21 pages, pdf downloadable, printable document, answer key included.

Mental Health Vocabulary word search, scramble and crossword puzzle
Holiday & Seasonal, ELA, Reading, Language Development, Vocabulary, Kindergarten, Grade 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, Word Searches, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables, Crosswords Puzzles

Mental Health Vocabulary word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this mental health puzzle set for my 4th and 5th graders during our health and wellness unit. The kids could talk about being happy or sad but had no idea what words like emotion, stress, or coping meant. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like emotion, feeling, happy, sad, angry, worried, scared, stress, calm, relax, breathe, coping, strategy, talk, share, listen, friend, family, teacher, counselor, help, safe, and healthy. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the mental health vocabulary finally stick in a gentle way. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether it's okay to feel angry sometimes. The crossword I use for partners. I added a couple simple smiley face, calm cloud, and breathing drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 4th through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers name one coping strategy they can use when feeling stressed on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or during indoor recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about how to pronounce plié or whether a jeté is a jump or a slide. The crossword I use for partners or as a review after a movement lesson.
