U.S. States and Capitals Set 2 TASK CARDS
Social Studies, Geography, History, History: USA, Grade 5, 6, 7, Task Cards, Worksheets & Printables
Add this set of 20 task cards to your social studies or U.S. history curriculum . Your learners will have a great time finding answers about 20 of the states and capitals within the United States. They’ll use a variety of learning techniques as they focus on states from Massachusetts through South Carolina (in alphabetical order). By the time they complete the set of task cards, not only will their skills in this area be stronger, but they will have gained fun facts about each state as well. This is not just another activity where learners are simply repeating facts they’ve memorized. Your learners in grade 5, grade 6, or grade 7 will enjoy the challenge each of the cards presents. They’ll be asked to find either the name of the given state or its capital by using written and/or visual clues. Concepts presented include silhouettes of states, state flags, year of statehood, state flowers, and state birds. Some clues also require map skills as learners are asked to identify states by their geographic location. If you’ve used task cards before, you know they offer a different level of learning as they get learners up and moving. They can be used indoors on a rainy day or outdoors when the weather beckons. One of the best parts is, putting a bit of prep work in at the beginning will end up saving you time and money in the future. For year over year use, print the cards on cardstock and laminate. Then you have a fun and simple learning activity for years to come. You’ll also save ink or reduce the number of copies as the answer recording sheets come two per page. This product includes a set of color cards as well as a black and white version. An answer key is also provided. Details of each card are listed below. CARDS 1-4: NV (with state silhouette), PA (with statehood year and state flag), OH (with state flower), MO (with state bird) CARDS 5-8: NY (with state silhouette), NC (with statehood year and state flag), MT (with state flower), NH (with state bird) CARDS 9-12: MS (with state silhouette), OR (with statehood year and state flag), ND (with state flower), MA (with state bird) CARDS 13-16: MI (with state silhouette), NE (with statehood year and state flag), NJ (with state flower), NM (with state bird) CARDS 17-20: OK (with state silhouette), RI (with statehood year and state flag), SC (with state flower), MN (with state bird) ANSWER RECORDING SHEETS ANSWER KEY Check out these other sets of task cards: U.S. States and Capitals Set 1 TASK CARDS and U.S. States and Capitals Set 3 TASK CARDS.

This resource is a set of 36 task cards that asks students to determine if a mathematical statement is a sum, difference, product, or quotient. I've used these task cards for grades 6-8 to introduce, reinforce, or review the vocabulary termssum, difference, product, or quotient. An answer key is provided. Possible Ways to Use •Use as a scoot-style game, where a card is on every student desk and students rotate to a new desk every 30 seconds or so and record their answer. •Use as a verbal assessment , where you pull a task card and you have the student verbally answer and justify their thinking if needed. •Use for stations, where you have the students do each card verbally with a partner and also record the answer on the recording sheet. •Use as a “Footloose” style activity where the task cards are taped or placed in various places around the room and students wander around to record the answer to all of the task cards on the student recording sheet. I even like to play the theme song to Footloose while students are walking around. •Have students work in groups of 4, where each group has their own set of task cards.
