Grade 2 Measurement Words word search, scramble and crossword puzzle

Grade 2 Measurement Words word search, scramble and crossword puzzle
Holiday & Seasonal, ELA, Reading, Language Development, Vocabulary, Not Grade Specific, Word Searches, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables

Grade 2 Measurement Words word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this fairy tale vocabulary puzzle set for my 2nd graders during our reading unit. The kids loved fairy tales but kept mixing up the roles of characters like hero and villain, and they didn't know what words like curse, spell, or happily ever after meant when we talked about the elements of a fairy tale. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like fairy tale, hero, villain, princess, prince, witch, dragon, castle, spell, curse, magic, once upon a time, happily ever after, and quest . I also threw in a few like "quest" because the kids kept asking what it meant when a character had to go on a journey . Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the vocabulary finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or independent practice. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about the spelling of "villain" or whether a curse and a spell are the same thing (they are different, but the kids always have opinions about it) . The crossword I use for partners or as a review, and I usually have a fairy tale anchor chart nearby for the kids who need the visual support to see the elements of the genre . I added a couple simple castle, princess, and dragon drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 2nd through 3rd grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers write their own fairy tale opening sentence using three words from the puzzle on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

Symbolism Vocabulary word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this symbolism vocabulary puzzle set for my 4th graders during our reading unit. The kids could read a story but had no idea what words like symbol, represent, or meaning meant when we talked about objects that stand for bigger ideas. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like symbol, represent, meaning, object, idea, freedom, peace, love, flag, dove, heart, and hope. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the symbolism vocabulary finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or indoor recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether a heart always means love or could mean something else. The crossword I use for partners or as a review. I added a couple simple heart, dove, and flag drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 4th through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers draw a symbol and explain what it represents on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

Sometimes I have early finishers draw 36 using tens and ones on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

Winter Olympics word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this Winter Olympics puzzle set for my 3rd and 4th graders during our winter sports unit. The kids were excited about the Games but only knew a few big events like skiing and hockey. They had no idea what words like biathlon, curling, or luge meant. I also sprinkled in Olympic terms like gold medal, silver medal, bronze medal, podium, torch, and rings to build that Games vocabulary . The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. Sometimes I have early finishers pick a sport they'd want to try and write why on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

World Art Traditions word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this world art traditions vocabulary puzzle set for my 3rd and 4th graders during our global art unit. The kids loved making art but had no idea what words like batik, mosaic, or origami meant when we explored art from different cultures around the world. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether batik is from Indonesia or Africa (it’s from Indonesia, but many African cultures also use wax-resist dyeing techniques). The crossword I use for partners or as a review after we've looked at images of art from around the world. I added a couple simple mask, mandala, and weaving drawings but nothing too busy. Dystopian Fiction Vocabulary word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this dystopian fiction puzzle set for my 4th and 5th graders during our reading and creative writing unit, though I've also used it with middle schoolers who are just starting the genre. The kids were obsessed with stories like The Hunger Games but had no idea what words like dystopia, utopia, or totalitarian meant when we tried to break down the genre's key elements. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like dystopia, utopia, totalitarian, surveillance, conformity, censorship, propaganda, rebellion, oppression, dehumanization, and apocalypse. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the core dystopian vocabulary finally stick for students who need to understand the difference between a utopia (a perfect world) and a dystopia (a world that's an illusion of perfection but is actually terrible). The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or indoor recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether surveillance is always bad or whether a utopia can exist in real life. The crossword I use for partners or as a review after we've read a few dystopian short stories. I added a couple simple eye (surveillance), chain (oppression), and ruined city (apocalypse) drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 4th through 6th grade. Print and go. Haunted House Escape Room word Scramble puzzle worksheet
Holiday & Seasonal, ELA, Reading, Language Development, Vocabulary, Not Grade Specific, Word Searches, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables

Haunted House Escape Room word Scramble puzzle worksheet activity Haunted House Word Scramble Activity Sheet I made this 2-page Halloween word scramble for my 4th graders last October and they couldn't get enough of it! The PDF has 24 spooky words that students in grades 3-6 can unscramble - from easier terms like "ghost" and "bat" to trickier ones like "apparition" and "cobwebs." When we used this during our Halloween party, I turned it into a race - the first 5 students to unscramble all the words got to help set up our haunted house classroom. The words are printed in a fun creepy font that gets kids excited, but still easy to read. Perfect for: Halloween class parties October literacy centers Rainy day recess activities Fast finishers during spooky season Page 1 has all the scrambled words with space to write answers. Page 2 is the answer key - I keep this on my clipboard to check work quickly. Some classes I've had work in teams, while others prefer doing it solo with Halloween music playing. I included words kids actually encounter in haunted houses like "fog," "skeleton," and "tombstone," plus some challenging vocabulary like "phantasm" that makes them feel smart when they figure it out. Last year, my students begged to take extras home for their siblings! Word examples: boo (easy) cauldron (medium) poltergeist (challenge) Format: Ready-to-print PDF (2 pages total) Teacher tip: Turn off the lights and give students flashlights to solve it for extra spooky fun!

So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like "tadpole," "eggs," "froglet," and "lungs." The scramble gets them talking because they always mix up the letters for "amphibian." ⭐ The PDF is five pages. Three puzzles and two answer keys. I use the word search after recess when they need to be quiet. The crossword works better for partners. The scramble is good for morning work or early finishers. Simple drawings of eggs and a tadpole are on there but nothing too busy. ⭐ This works for 2nd through 4th grade. Print and go. Famous Paintings word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this famous paintings puzzle set for my 3rd and 4th graders during our art unit. The kids could name a few famous artworks like the Mona Lisa, but had no idea about other iconic paintings or who painted them . So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like Mona Lisa, Starry Night, The Scream, American Gothic, The Last Supper, Water Lilies, The Persistence of Memory, and Nighthawks, along with artist names like da Vinci, Van Gogh, Munch, Wood, and Dalí . Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the painting names and artists finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after art class or indoor recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about who painted Starry Night or whether The Scream is a painting or a person. The crossword I use for partners or as a review before a quiz. I added a couple simple paint palette, brush, and star drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 3rd through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers pick one painting and write one fact about it on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

Spelling Patterns -tion-sion word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this spelling patterns puzzle set for my 3rd and 4th graders during our word study unit. The kids could read words like "nation" and "television" but had no idea when to use -tion versus -sion. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using -tion words like nation, action, attention, direction, fiction, fraction, mention, option, question, and vacation, and -sion words like television, division, decision, explosion, invasion, mission, passion, permission, session, and vision. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the spelling patterns finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether "discussion" ends with -sion or -tion. The crossword I use for partners. I added a couple simple star and pencil drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 3rd through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers list two -tion words and two -sion words on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

Cell Parts and Functions word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this cell parts and functions puzzle set for my 4th graders during our life science unit. The kids had heard of cells but couldn't keep straight what the nucleus, mitochondria, or cell membrane actually do. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like nucleus, mitochondria, cytoplasm, cell membrane, cell wall, chloroplast, vacuole, ribosome, golgi, endoplasmic reticulum, plant cell, animal cell, function, control center, and energy. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the parts and their jobs finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about which part is the "brain" of the cell. The crossword I use for partners. I added a couple simple cell diagrams with labels pointing to a few parts but nothing too busy. Works for 4th through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers pick three cell parts and write what each one does on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.
