Morning Routine Words word search, scramble and crossword puzzle
Holiday & Seasonal, ELA, Reading, Language Development, Vocabulary, Kindergarten, Grade 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, Word Searches, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables, Crosswords Puzzles
Morning Routine Words word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this morning routine puzzle set for my 1st and 2nd graders during our daily life unit. The kids could tell me what they did each morning but had no idea how to sequence the steps or what words like first, next, or finally meant. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like wake up, stretch, brush teeth, wash face, get dressed, eat breakfast, pack lunch, put on shoes, grab backpack, and go to school. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the morning routine vocabulary finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or indoor recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether breakfast should come before or after brushing teeth. The crossword I use for partners or as a review. I added a couple simple clock, toothbrush, and backpack drawings but nothing too busy. Works for K through 2nd grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers write their morning routine in order on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

R-Controlled Vowels word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this r-controlled vowels puzzle set for my 1st and 2nd graders during our phonics unit. The kids could read short and long vowels but got confused when a vowel followed by R made a totally different sound, like in "car," "her," or "bird." So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like car, star, farm, park, dark, her, fern, perch, verb, bird, dirt, shirt, circle, first, nurse, purse, turtle, turn, corn, horn, fork, storm, and morning. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the ar, er, ir, or, and ur sounds finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to keep them learning without the whining. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search is great for quiet time after recess. The scramble gets them talking because they mix up letters on words like "anemone." The crossword I save for partners. I added a couple simple fish and coral drawings but nothing too distracting. Sustainable Agriculture word search, scramble and crossword puzzle
Holiday & Seasonal, ELA, Reading, Language Development, Vocabulary, Not Grade Specific, Word Searches, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables
Sustainable Agriculture word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this sustainable agriculture puzzle set for my 4th graders during our Earth science and environmental unit. The kids knew farming had something to do with food, but they had no idea how to balance growing enough food with protecting the planet for the future — or what words like sustainable, compost, or erosion really meant in practice. They kept mixing up what "organic" actually means and whether it's just a buzzword or a real farming method with rules, and they had no idea that farmers have to worry about things like soil loss, water use, and pesticide resistance. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using vocabulary like sustainable, organic, erosion, compost, irrigation, terracing, biodiversity, conservation, food waste, and agroecology . The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess, and the scramble gets them talking because they argue about the spelling of agroecology (it's a long one) or whether compost and fertilizer are the same thing (they're not — compost is organic matter that improves soil health; fertilizer can be synthetic or organic and is added to boost plant growth). The crossword I use for partners or as a review after a lesson where we discuss things like pest control without synthetic chemicals and how small farms or community gardens can be part of the solution . Works for 4th through 6th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers pick one sustainable practice from the puzzle and explain why it's good for the planet on the back, or I ask them to brainstorm a small change their family could make to waste less food. The kids actually ask for these now.

So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like Mandela, South Africa, apartheid, segregation, prison, freedom, equality, justice, leader, president, peace, Nobel, forgiveness, unity, and human rights. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the facts finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about how many years Mandela spent in prison. The crossword I use for partners. I added a couple simple dove and South Africa outline drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 4th through 5th grade. Print and go. Fairy Tales Little Red Riding Hood word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this Little Red Riding Hood puzzle set for my 1st and 2nd graders during our fairy tale unit. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words from the classic tale like Little Red Riding Hood, wolf, grandmother, woods, basket, axe, hunter, and forest . I also threw in "woodsman" because he's an important character in many versions of the story . Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the vocabulary finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about the spelling of "grandmother" or whether the wolf ate the grandmother first or just pretended to be her . I added a couple simple hood, basket, and wolf drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 1st through 3rd grade. Print and go. Grade 7 Civics and Government word search, scramble and crossword puzz
Holiday & Seasonal, ELA, Reading, Language Development, Vocabulary, Not Grade Specific, Word Searches, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables
Grade 7 Civics and Government word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this civics and government puzzle set for my 7th graders during our social studies unit. The kids knew the three branches from earlier grades, but they had no idea about the deeper vocabulary like federalism, checks and balances, or judicial review when we started looking at how the government actually functions. They also kept mixing up the roles of the House and Senate and didn't understand what a veto does. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like constitution, amendment, federalism, separation of powers, checks and balances, executive, legislative, judicial, veto, override, impeach, judicial review, bill, law, and citizens . I also included a few like "civics" and "responsibility" because they kept coming up in our class discussions . Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the vocabulary finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or independent practice. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about the spelling of "federalism" (it's a tricky one) or whether a veto and an override are the same thing (they're not—they always have opinions about it) . The crossword I use for partners or as a review, and I usually have a branches of government diagram nearby for the kids who need the visual support to see the structure and the checks . I added a couple simple building and scale drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 7th through 8th grade. Print and go. The kids could see ice melt and water boil but couldn't explain the difference between physical and chemical changes. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like physical change, chemical change, melting, freezing, boiling, condensation, evaporate, dissolve, burn, rust, cook, bake, new substance, reversible, and irreversible. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the difference finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether tearing paper is a physical or chemical change. The crossword I use for partners. I added a couple simple before and after drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 3rd through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers list two physical changes and two chemical changes on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.
