The kids had heard of meters and liters but had no idea what prefixes like milli, centi, and kilo meant. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like metric, meter, liter, gram, milli, centi, kilo, millimeter, centimeter, kilometer, milliliter, centiliter, milligram, centigram, kilogram, base ten, and convert. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the metric prefixes finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether a kilometer is longer than a mile. The crossword I use for partners. I added a couple simple ruler and scale drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 3rd through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers write how many centimeters are in one meter on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like chai, Diwali, Holi, rangoli, sari, henna, curry, Bollywood, cricket, namaste, and bhangra. I also threw in a few like dhoti and mehndi because they kept coming up in our conversations . Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the cultural vocabulary finally stick in a way that connects to real traditions and everyday words. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or independent practice. Mood and Tone Vocabulary word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this mood and tone vocabulary puzzle set for my 4th graders during our reading unit. The kids could say a story made them feel scared or happy but had no idea what words like mood, tone, or atmosphere meant when we talked about the feeling of a story. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like mood, tone, atmosphere, feeling, serious, humorous, suspenseful, joyful, gloomy, and mysterious. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the mood and tone vocabulary finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or indoor recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether mood and tone are the same thing. The crossword I use for partners or as a review. I added a couple simple smile, frown, and question mark drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 4th through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers describe the mood of a book they are reading using three words from the puzzle on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

The materials were created during an afternoon when student engagement was low. The objective was to provide an activity that resembled a game while also stimulating cognitive function. Life Science word search, scramble and crossword puzzle activity ⭐ I made this butterfly life cycle puzzle set for my 2nd and 3rd graders during our insect unit. The kids were mixing up "chrysalis" and "cocoon" constantly so I needed something low stress that still got them using the words. It has a word search, a word scramble, and a tiny crossword. Nothing fancy. ⭐ The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page (I put all three keys on one page to save paper). The scramble is the one they struggle with the most which is actually good because then they start asking each other for help. Word search works great for early finishers or after lunch quiet time. ⭐ Grades 2 through 4 mostly. Print and go. Sometimes I have them draw each stage on the back of the word search. Takes zero prep and they actually stay busy longer than I expect.
