Types of Dance word search, scramble and crossword puzzle

I made this types of dance puzzle set for my 2nd and 3rd graders during our dance and movement unit. The kids could name hip-hop and ballet but had no idea what words like salsa, tap, or jazz meant when I tried to introduce different dance styles. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like ballet, tap, jazz, hip-hop, salsa, tango, waltz, modern, contemporary, folk, square dance, breakdance, line dance, ballroom, and swing. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the dance style vocabulary finally stick.

The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or PE. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether breakdance is the same as hip-hop. The crossword I use for partners or as a review before a performance. I added a couple simple dancer silhouette and musical note drawings but nothing too busy.

Works for 2nd through 4th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers name their favorite dance style and why on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.
