Women in Science word search, scramble and crossword puzzle
Holiday & Seasonal, ELA, Reading, Language Development, Vocabulary, Not Grade Specific, Word Searches, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables
Women in Science word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this "Women in Science" puzzle set for my 4th graders during our biography unit and Women's History Month. The kids could name Marie Curie and maybe Mae Jemison, but they had no idea about the incredible range of women who have shaped science for centuries—from ancient times to the present. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using names like Marie Curie (radioactivity pioneer and the first person to win two Nobels in different sciences), Ada Lovelace (often called the world's first computer programmer), Lise Meitner (physicist who co-discovered nuclear fission but was overlooked for the Nobel Prize), Katherine Johnson (NASA mathematician whose calculations guided Apollo missions), and Rosalind Franklin (whose X-ray diffraction image revealed the structure of DNA) . I also threw in a few like Mae Jemison (first Black woman in space) and Rachel Carson (whose book Silent Spring helped launch the environmental movement) because they always come up in our class discussions . Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the vocabulary finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or independent practice. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about the spelling of "Jocelyn" or whether "Bell Burnell" is one name or two (Bell Burnell is her full hyphenated surname, but the kids always ask). The crossword I use for partners or as a review after we've watched a few short biographies . I added a couple simple star, test tube, and periodic table drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 4th through 6th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers pick one scientist from the puzzles and write one fact about her on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

National Siblings Day word Scramble puzzle worksheet activity National Siblings Day Word Scramble Worksheet I made this sibling-themed word scramble last year for my 3rd grade class when we celebrated National Siblings Day in April. It's a simple 2-page printable with 24 scrambled words about brothers and sisters - from easy ones like "twin" and "share" to trickier ones like "bond" and "memories." The kids loved racing to unscramble words while sharing stories about their siblings. I printed them on light blue and pink paper to make it festive. You'll find: • Page 1: The word scramble activity with clear spaces for answers • Page 2: A no-fuss answer key for quick checking Perfect for: Morning work on April 10th (National Siblings Day) Family-themed units Discussions about relationships I included real words kids use about siblings - "play," "argue," "team," and even "annoying" (which got lots of laughs!). Last year, it sparked great conversations about how every sibling relationship is special. Format: Basic PDF (2 pages) Teacher Tip: Have students circle their favorite word to describe their sibling!

The Cold War Vocabulary word search, scramble and crossword puzzle

The Cold War Vocabulary word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this Cold War vocabulary puzzle set for my 5th graders during our modern history unit. The kids had heard the term but had no idea why the war was "cold" or what the Iron Curtain meant. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like Cold War, Soviet Union, United States, communism, democracy, Iron Curtain, Berlin Wall, nuclear, missile, space race, arms race, spy, propaganda, red scare, and thaw. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the vocabulary finally make sense. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about why the war never turned into a direct fight. The crossword I use for partners. I added a couple simple wall and globe drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers write one fact about the Berlin Wall on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.
