About this resource
What's inside this resource
I made this circuits and electronics puzzle set for my 4th graders during our STEM and physical science unit. The kids could light a bulb with a battery and a wire but had no idea what words like circuit, conductor, or insulator meant when we talked about how electricity flows. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like circuit, battery, bulb, wire, switch, flow, conductor, insulator, motor, and electric. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the electronics vocabulary finally stick.
The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or indoor recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether a penny is a conductor or an insulator. The crossword I use for partners or as a review. I added a couple simple battery, bulb, and wire drawings but nothing too busy.
Works for 4th through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers draw a simple circuit on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.
