Students can practice using the correct spelling of homophone words with this worksheet packet. This packet focuses on the homophones: to, two, and too. What are homophones? Homophones are a pair of words that sound the same but are spelled differently. Words that are homophones can often be tricky for students to spell correctly since the spelling varies depending on the meaning of the word. What is Included: There is a poster page (available in color and in black in white) that shows the homophone, its part of speech, a sentence showing how it is used in a sentence, and a picture that illustrates the sentence. One worksheet where students write in the correct homophone to complete each sentence. One worksheet where students write in the correct homophone to complete the story. One worksheet where students choose the correct word to complete each sentence and then they color in the color by code picture according to the answers of each sentence. Answer keys for the 3 worksheets. When to Use: Literacy Activity - These worksheets make great practice for students learning these homophones. Morning Work - These worksheets make great morning work for students who arrive to class early. Homework - These worksheets are perfect to send home for students to practice homophones with their parents. Sub Plans - The teacher can easily leave these worksheets for subs to assign to students. With repeated practice distinguishing between words with the same sound and different spellings, students will master which form of the word to use in each sentence and become confident in using the correct word when writing their own sentences and stories. ELA, Language Development, ESL, Common Core, Resources for Teachers, Vocabulary, Grade 5, 6, 7, Worksheets & Printables, Worksheets, Quizzes and Tests, Teacher Tools, Tests, Assessments

Fill in the Blanks Grammar Practice MCQS Snapshot Title: Fill in the Blanks . Genre: Instructional workbook / practice worksheets . Subject: Reading / Language Arts . Primary Topic: using context clues to complete sentences . What This Teaches Best Develops context-clue skills by asking students to choose the word that best completes each sentence. Strengthens grammar and morphology because many choices contrast related forms such as collection/collecting/collect and equipment/equip/equips . Builds academic vocabulary in sentence context rather than isolated definition work. Works well for classwork, homework, or review because it includes four worksheets and answer keys. Learning Goals Students will use sentence context to choose the word that best completes a blank. Students will use meaning and grammar cues to select the correct word form. Students will distinguish between closely related vocabulary options. Students will explain how the surrounding words help determine the best answer. Students will apply precise vocabulary in complete sentence contexts. Key Vocabulary From the Text paramount — more important than anything else. cavalry — soldiers who fight on horseback. embankment — a raised bank of earth. jeopardized — put something in danger. aptitude — natural ability to do something. Common Core Alignment (if applicable) CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.L.4.4a / L.5.4a / L.6.4a / L.7.4a — using context as a clue to the meaning of a word or phrase is the packet’s central skill. CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.L.4.6 / L.5.6 / L.6.6 / L.7.6 — the packet also supports accurate use of grade-appropriate academic vocabulary.
