Civics & US Government Bell Ringers FULL YEAR - 180 Daily Warm-Ups

Civics & US Government Bell Ringers FULL YEAR - 180 Daily Warm-Ups
Government, Social Studies, Law, Grade 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables

This is a full year of civics and US government bell-ringers - 180 short daily prompts that give students a steady, five-minute way to begin class. The set spans an entire course: the purposes and forms of government, the social-contract thinkers behind the American founding, Magna Carta and the colonial documents, the Declaration of Independence, the failure of the Articles of Confederation, the Constitutional Convention and its compromises, ratification and federalism, the structure and powers of Congress, the presidency and the federal bureaucracy, the courts and judicial review, checks and balances, the Bill of Rights amendment by amendment, due process and incorporation, the Civil War amendments, landmark Supreme Court cases, the civil rights movement, citizenship, voting and elections, the Electoral College, political parties and interest groups, public opinion and polling, media literacy and misinformation, public policy and the federal budget, and state and local government. Prompts are arranged into 36 weekly pages, each holding five days of work a teacher can hand out on Monday and collect on Friday. Every week rotates through a vocabulary term used in context, a short reading with a text-dependent question, a document or source to interpret, a quick recall check, and a question that asks students to make a claim and support it with evidence, so the daily habit stays fresh. Contested questions are written so students weigh arguments on both sides from evidence, and no current officeholder or political party is named anywhere in the set. Everything is print-first: one clean PDF that copies well, uses little ink, and needs no student accounts or devices. A complete answer key and a standards page make planning and grading fast. Built for grades 8-12, it works as a daily opener, spiral review, or settle-in routine from the first week of school to the last. The routine is the point: the same five-minute opener every day, so students settle without being asked twice.

Birthday Party Writing Challenge | Celebrations, gifts, and cake!

Birthday Party Writing Challenge | Celebrations, gifts, and cake!
ELA, Writing, Creative Writing, Grammar, Grade 2, 3, 4, 5, Worksheets & Printables, Worksheets

Getting kids to enjoy writing during the early elementary years is key. One way we can do that is to tie in their interests to the writing process. Birthdays are a special time, but giving kids the opportunity to put together their own celebration can be telling! Give them control as they choose their celebration, who they'll celebrate with, the gifts they'll receive, and what kind of cake they'd like! Including the appropriate sequence of events, as well as a conflict is key. Thinking about the way we think is a foundational skill for growing the executive functions our kiddos will use in the editing process. For this reason, a short checklist has been included at the end of page 4 so that learners can begin to go back and check their work. This key skill in developing healthy executive functioning is intentionally made visible to students to prompt ownership over the quality of their writing. STANDARDS: Meets CCSS Writing standards for grades 2-5. Don't forget to check out the Chef's Toolbox, Superhero's Toolbox, and Astronaut's Toolbox activities for more fun! These activities can be used with a whole class in addition to the writing challenge printable. This printable is optimal for 2nd-5th graders who enjoy learning about space and demonstrating their knowledge of it. By using the included matrix to choose the setting, challenge, and characters in their story, they'll use the freedom afforded them to create something they love. *Note, some learners may require a basic explanation of what stocks, investments, and savings accounts are. BONUS: Take advantage of the 4 extension activity ideas included in this printable. These activities will take their writing beyond the page and bring it to life in STEAM-supported outlets. What you'll get: a 4 page PDF including instructions, extension activity ideas, and 3 student pages. One of these pages is simply writing space for you to print off as many copies as you need based on the amount your students are writing. You'll also find the editing checklist to prompt students to edit their own work for spelling, capitalization, and punctuation.

Primary Algebra Worksheet Real-Life Simple One Step Equations 2nd 3rd

Primary Algebra Worksheet Real-Life Simple One Step Equations 2nd 3rd
Math, Algebra, Grade 2, 3, Worksheets & Printables, Word Problems, Worksheets

Here's a ready-to-go set of worksheets for students in 2nd and 3rd grade learning early and foundational algebra ideas about one-step equations. Students will get a chance to write simple, one-step equations to represent real-world situations using the four operations. Then, they can practice solving each equation. Since it's designed for your younger elementary students, no variables are used on these worksheets- students simply include a missing number box in each equation! How to Use: Print 4 pages for each student. Start with the included handout. It takes students through a sample situation: showing how to create a simple equation with a missing number box from a story word problem. Then, show your students how to use the opposite math operation to help solve the equation. Finally, your students must put the solution back into their original equation to see if it is the correct solution! Next, give your students three pages of sample problems. They can work on them alone or in pairs. They repeat the same steps for each word problem: write an equation, solve, and check. On the final page, they can write their own word problem. They also self-assess their skills to determine which parts of the process need more practice! Grades to Use With: This lesson is made for students in 2nd grade or 3rd grade who are learning pre-algebra concepts: writing simple one-step equations, using missing number boxes, solving one-step equations, and always checking their solution to ensure it is accurate. The worksheets could also work in high school special education classes since they are designed to be simple, learner-friendly, and include step-by-step instructions. What's Included: 5-Page PDF that is ready to print! Title Page and Answer Key Handout with Step-by-Step Instructions Three Worksheets of real-world math word problems with graphic organizers to keep students organized (and student self-assessment too!)

Growth Mindset Strategies SEL Skills Writing Challenge

Growth Mindset Strategies SEL Skills Writing Challenge
P.E. & Health, ELA, Writing, Creative Writing, Grammar, Grade 2, 3, 4, 5, Worksheets & Printables, Worksheets

Teaching critical social emotional skills while getting kids to enjoy writing during the early elementary years is key. One way we can do that is to tie in their interests to the writing process. Growth mindset is a skill we learn through practice, and building resilience. Sure, we could have a conversation about it, but apart from the actual succeeding and failing we do in real life, one of the best ways to learn it is by role playing and creating stories. This resource (and the others that complement it in this series!) seeks to provide the scaffolding needed for learners to imagine and begin telling a story in written form. Then they're invited into 5 different STEAM extension activities to keep the conversations going. Remember, there are over a year's worth of writing activities in this line! Keep the fun stories rolling by checking out holiday, winter, summer, life skills, and adventure writing activities from Melissa Is Teaching! This printable is optimal for 2nd-5th graders as they take on the cognitively heavy task of writing a narrative, while also supporting them with the scaffolding and inspiration in the provided idea matrix. BONUS: Take advantage of the 4+ extension activity ideas included in this printable.
