100 Chart Mystery Picture Reveal | Traffic Light | Addition & Subtraction

I created this 100 chart mystery picture activity to give students a different way to practice addition and subtraction. I designed it with 1st and 2nd grade students in mind, but it can also be used with kindergarten students who are ready for a little extra math practice.

Students solve each problem, find the answer on the 100 chart, and color it according to the directions. As they complete the problems, a traffic light shape is revealed on the 100 chart.

I wanted to make a resource that combines math practice with a simple coloring activity, while also giving students an opportunity to work with numbers on a 100 chart.

Traffic Light Mystery Picture

I designed the activity so that students use each answer to find a number on the 100 chart. They color the numbers according to the directions, and the traffic light gradually appears as they work.

The mystery picture gives students something to look for as they complete their math problems, while still keeping the focus on addition, subtraction, and 100 chart practice.

Why I Created This Resource

I wanted to create something students could work on independently while still practicing important number skills. With this activity, students don't just solve a problem and move on. They use their answer on the 100 chart, which gives them another opportunity to look at numbers and notice patterns.

I also like that the finished picture gives students a clear ending point. They can see the traffic light appear as they complete the activity.
