About this resource

What's inside this resource

This package includes my entire year of PowerPoint presentations for my Anatomy & Physiology class. Many of these presentations can also be used in a Biology course.

Teaching tips & learning objectives

Learning objectives

  • Identify the major organs and structures of each body system covered (skeletal, muscular, nervous, cardiovascular, digestive, integumentary, reproductive, and sensory).

  • Use correct anatomical directional and positional terminology (e.g., anterior, posterior, proximal, distal).

  • Describe the function of key structures, such as heart valves or cell organelles, within each system.

Teaching tips

  • Project one system's file per class session; the set is sequenced to support a full-year pacing plan.

  • Use the embedded review questions (already answered in several files) as a verbal check for understanding before moving to new content.

  • Pair the Blood, Heart, and Blood Vessel files together for a cardiovascular unit rather than presenting them in isolation.

  • Because notes are outline-style rather than full sentences, have students copy key terms into their own notebooks during the lecture.

Skills covered

  • Human body systems vocabulary -- students learn structured terminology for the skeletal, muscular, nervous, digestive, cardiovascular, integumentary, and reproductive systems across 38 lecture files.

  • Anatomical directional terms -- students apply terms such as anterior, posterior, proximal, and distal to describe body locations.

  • Cardiovascular structure and function -- students trace blood flow through heart chambers, valves, arteries, and veins using labeled fact lists and fill-in review questions.

  • Cell structure and transport -- students identify cell organelles and describe how materials move across the cell membrane.

Questions teachers ask about this resource

How are the 38 lecture files organized across the school year?

They're grouped by body system -- for example, three Integumentary System parts, four Nervous System parts, and three Skeletal System parts -- so a teacher can sequence them unit by unit rather than as one long lecture.

Are the review questions inside the notes left blank for students, or already worked out?

It varies by file: in The Heart notes, review questions are followed immediately by their responses (e.g., 'What do arteries do? Take blood AWAY from the heart'), functioning as a worked script, while other files like Anatomical Terms Part 2 leave the review blanks unanswered for students to complete verbally in class.
