About This Product

If you have just finished an animal unit with your students, you may be looking for a culminating task that they can engage in to show what they know. Maybe, you are just beginning a science unit focusing on types of animals and their habitats. You may even just be looking for a project because your students have expressed great interest in that topic. Whatever the need may be, this project is going to take care of it!

This is an Animal Research Project that digs into a few topics related to animals. This task is ideal for upper elementary students (3rd – 5th grade). However, it is doable and could be a fun challenge for 2nd grade students as well.

The objective is for students to complete research about a designated animal and be able to report on a variety of topics including the food chain, biomes, and animal family types.

This is a 14-page printable packet that begins with a cover page. Whether you print all of the pages, or just some, for your students, they will be able to assemble it as a booklet.

You can either:

-Assign an animal to students

-Allow students to decide on an animal of their interest

-Have students select from an option of animals that you have compiled

The pages are as follows:

-Cover page

-Animal families

-Mammals or non-mammals?

-Carnivores, Herbivores, and Omnivores

-Baby animals

-Biomes and habitats

-Adaptations

-The food chain

-Blank writing template

-Teacher guide

-Sample completion project

From page to page, students will be completing graphic organizers, drawing illustrations, and writing phrases or sentences to report on the topic of that page.

This project can be completed individually, in partners, or in small groups!
