⭐I made this hibernation puzzle set for my 2nd and 3rd graders during our winter animals unit. The kids kept asking why bears sleep all winter but had no idea other animals did it too. So I threw together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like bear, bat, hedgehog, turtle, snake, frog, den, and dormant. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the vocabulary stick.

⭐ The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key. The word search is good for quiet time after lunch. The scramble gets them talking because they argue over how to spell "hedgehog" or whether "groundhog" is one word or two. The crossword I save for partners. I added a few simple cave and sleepy animal drawings but nothing too busy.

⭐Works for 1st through 4th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I ask early finishers to circle which hibernating animal is their favorite and tell me why on the back. The kids actually like these.
