Construct Functions Worksheet for 8th Grade Course 8.F.B.4
About This Product
This worksheet is for 8th grade math course 8.F.B.4. There are two types of tasks: Constructing functions from graphs and constructing functions from tables. We are always looking for the form y=mx+b. This worksheet is a printable pdf that includes answers.
This worksheet doesn’t represent any new skills to the students, at this point they should be able to construct functions from graphs and tables. However, the skill of constructing functions from tables may need some more practice at this point of their 8th grade math studies.
The tasks with graphs are not too hard; some of them have fractions as rate of change, but the grid is placed so that you should be able to find exact values for the rate of change. The graphs have different grids to make the students pay careful attention.
As for tasks with tables, students need to find the rate of change and the initial value (y-intercept) from the tables that represent real life situations. They usually also have to do some calculations before the can construct a function. Some examples of real life situations are: prices that include pay per unit and a delivery fee or dose of a medicine.
