Plus-que-parfait forms become the ammunition in a printable French bataille navale played on battleship grids written entirely in French. Subject pronouns run down the side of each board and infinitives sit across the top; to fire at a square, a player says the subject with the correct pluperfect form of that verb, and touché, raté, and coulé (hit, miss, and sunk) keep score in the target language. Forty different verbs are spread across five versions of the game, so rounds can rotate to fresh conjugations.
