Grade 3 Sun Moon and Stars word search, scramble and crossword puzzle

About This Product

Grade 3

I made this sun, moon, and stars puzzle set for my 3rd graders during our space unit. The kids had tons of questions about why we have day and night, why the moon changes shape, and whether the sun is really a star. They knew a little but kept mixing up basic vocabulary like rotate and revolve, or what a constellation actually is. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like sun, moon, star, constellation, orbit, rotate, axis, phase, crater, telescope, and solar system . Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the vocabulary finally stick while keeping them curious.

The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue over how to spell "constellation" or whether the sun is the biggest star (it's not, it's just the closest) . The crossword I use for partners. I added a couple simple sun, moon, and telescope drawings but nothing too busy .

Works for 3rd through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers pick three words and write one sentence about space on the back . The kids actually ask for these now. Sun Moon and Stars word search, scramble and crossword puzzle
