What's inside this resource
These multiplication strips give students a desk reference for every fact from 0 × 0 to 12 × 12. There are 13 strips, one for each factor from 0 to 12, and each lists that factor times 0 through 12 with the product in a separate column. Students cut each strip around its dashed border and keep it on a desk, in a folder or in an envelope.
The teaching guide on page 4 turns the strips into partner practice. Students read a fact, cover the product column with scrap paper, say the product and explain their thinking, then uncover it to check. Short examples show how to build a harder fact from a known one, such as 7 × 6 from 5 × 6 plus 2 × 6, and how switching the factors keeps the product the same.
