Teaching tips & learning objectives
Learning objectives
- collect simple data by coloring and counting pictured items
- compare quantities using more/most/least language
- read and fill in a bar-graph style grid
- use a spinner (paper clip and pencil) to generate random data for graphing
Teaching tips
- pair students for the spinner activity since it requires a paper clip and pencil to operate
- use as a math center rather than whole-class instruction, since materials (paper clip) are needed for sheet two
- project the first sheet's questions before independent work to model the comparison language (more/most)
- combine with a broader counting or data unit rather than assigning as a stand-alone lesson
Skills covered
- data collection
- graphing
- counting
- comparing quantities

Questions teachers ask about this resource
Does the Sweet Honey worksheet require any materials beyond the printed page?
Yes — a paper clip and pencil are used as a spinner to generate the data students then color in.
Are the two worksheets on the same spring theme?
No — the first sheet is a rain/umbrella scene, and the second is a bee/honey scene; they share a format but not a theme.
