About This Product

Students plan a real holiday meal on a real budget. This 24 page life skills packet walks secondary students through reading a menu, building a grocery list, comparing prices, adding totals, staying under budget and counting change. Worksheets come in leveled versions so every student in a mixed group can work on the same task at the right level. Teacher notes, answer keys and a simple data sheet are included.

This resource is made for life skills, transition and community based instruction programs serving ages 14 to 21. The pages look adult, not childish, and use no brand names, so they fit high school and transition classrooms. Students practice the math skills they will use when they shop for a family meal, such as adding prices, finding a total and checking change. Use it as a whole group lesson, in small groups or as independent work with support.

The file is a PDF with 24 pages, ready to print and go for November. Answer keys are provided for the teacher. A simple data sheet helps you track progress on each skill across the unit.

Made by Jeremy D. Gooch, special education teacher and transition coordinator. Drafting and layout had AI assistance; every page was checked by me.
