Spiders, scientifically known as "arachnids," are fascinating to many people, especially kids. And there are so many different kinds. I learned a lot while creating this reading comprehension activities pack. Kids will read the article (link provided to the article inside product) and answer the questions. Many of the questions are fill in the blank, some are multiple choice, some true/false. There are also multiple essay question, writing prompts. And a bonus section for motivated students to look at what the Bible says about living things. Students will be given the opportunity to choose which side they are on regarding evolution vs creation, without judgment. They will be required to research and support the side they choose in their essays. Answer keys are included for the objective questions. The product is simple: 31 questions, including multiple choice, true/false, plus two short writing prompt type questions, one of which is partly subjective, but requires a thoughtful answer. Extra credit questions are included. 33 vocabulary words - can be used to increase student comprehension, increase scientific vocabulary, and can be used for alphabetizing and/or spelling tests. 8 Bible verse references - Bible as literature is an allowed subject in the public schools. Also, just looking up verses and drawing your own conclusions should align with standards. This activity is optional, of course. One bonus activity for students to write their thoughts on the 8 Bible verses. Two essay questions, one considered a "challenge." Can be used for extra motivated students or students who are trying to improve their grade. Of course, any writing a student does will build your writing fluency, especially when writing is done in a variety of fields, including, science, history, literature, etc. Answer keys for objective questions. My products are never grade specific, because students are at different levels even when they are at he same grade level in school. Probably 4th through high school would be the most appropriate. This letter M beginning sounds and handwriting activity includes real photographs to practice learning to recognize, write and identify the sound of the letter M. Each picture has bold colors and includes easily recognized pictures. Each activity can be used in a literacy center for students to practice letter recognition. What is Included: There is an instructional page with printing instructions. There are letter M posters with various letter M words. There are handwriting task cards that allow students to practice writing the letter M as well as words that begin with the letter M. There are beginning sound clip cards that allow students to practice clipping the images that begin with the letter M. There is a sorting activity where you sort pictures that begins with M from words that do not begin with M. The letter K sorting cards that can also be used to play memory, matching, or concentration games. These cards can also be used during a lesson in a pocket chart as well as for a center display. When to Use: All of the activities make great literacy centers, by placing each set of activities in the center and letting students complete activities alone or with a partner. These activities make great morning tub activities. Just place these activities in morning bins for students to complete as their classmates arrive to class. Skills Assessed: These activities assess letter recognition skills, beginning sounds, handwriting, and sorting skills. Each activity in this set is low prep. Each activity just needs to be printed out, cut apart, and laminated if desired. When you laminate the writing cards, you can create a writing center activity that is reusable is you add dry erase markers. The handwriting cards and beginning sound clip cards can be turned into task box activities.

For the 3 written responses, try to get students giving the answer with some form of evidence: “I think ___ because the text says ___.” If students get stuck, send them back to check the passage. Vocabulary Questions Practice seven key words from the text in this section across two activities. First section is scrambled words where students will unscramble three words given a clue for each. The second section is a word to meaning matching activity. Before starting, have some students read out words they underlined in the passage. Ask students to say the word and read aloud the sentence(s) around each word. Ask students to do scrambled words and the matching exercise in pairs then go through answers as a class. For the scrambled spelling task, get four pairs to come up to the board and write the words for extra practice with the other student reading out the clue. Metric Conversions Puzzle for Student Practice

A fun activity for students to practice metric conversions. The puzzle is a 4 by 4 grid of squares. Each side of the square has a number in metric form. Students will match sides with equivalent numbers that use a different unit of metric measure. The skill students will use to solve the puzzle correspond to Common Core Standards: Each square has a letter in the middle and the teacher answer key shows the letters only. This makes for a quick check of student's accuracy. Have students to cut out the puzzle. Assign them each a unique number to place on the back of every puzzle piece. (this is for pieces found on the floor, you will know to which bag they belong). They will then mix the pieces and place them in a plastic bag. Have students to exchange baggies and then complete the puzzle. As you walk around to monitor your unique answer key allows you to tell quickly if students are correct as they work. Most children (and even adults) can attest to their ability to better retain information that they have learned through music and song. This can be used in your social studies classroom with your elementary students. This letter P flipbook is the perfect tool to help preschoolers and kindergarteners learn all about the letter P! The different pages in this flip book allow students to practice recognizing the letter, writing the letter, and identifying words that begin with the letter. What is Included: This flip book has a cover page for students to simply color. The seek and find page practices letter recognition by having students identify capital and lowercase forms of the letter. The find and color page practices letter recognition of the target letter from other letters of the alphabet. Students can use dot markers to mark the letters, they can color in the letter or use stickers to cover the letters. The cut and paste page allows students to work with scissor skills to cut out examples of the letter from either printed materials, like magazines or newspapers, or students can use the letters provided at the bottom of the page. The trace and write page allows students to practice tracing and writing the capital and lowercase forms of the letter. The beginnings sound page has students coloring the pictures that begin with the letter. The trace and draw page has students tracing a word that begins with the letter, then drawing a picture to represent that word. When to Use: Literacy Centers - This flip book can be placed in a literacy center for students to work on identifying the letter. Morning Work - This flip book is a perfect morning work activity.
