Build a Tower! Phonic Game: OO

Here is an ultra fun game to help pupils learn to sound out words with both the long and short forms of OO as in moon and book. When introducing OO words, many children have particular difficulty sounding out short OO words. This game can take the stress out of learning. How to play The game involves each player having a baseboard upon which to build his/her tower. Players aim to be the first to build their tower and win! Word cards containing both long and short OO words are scattered on the table - with an 'oops' card hidden amongst them! Players take turns to choose a card. If it is read correctly, the player places it on his/her baseboard and begins to build a tower. Teachers and parents may give the child as much help as needed to read each word and turn it into a teaching opportunity. With more confident children, you can change the rules so that the card is returned face down to the table if it is not read correctly. If a player chooses the 'Oops' card, then the whole tower is wiped off the player's board and the cards are returned to the table, face down and play continues until someone manages to build their tower. Your pupils will have so much fun they will forget that they are learning! Games take the pain out of learning! With this letter L sorting activity, students will practice letter recognition and distinguishing between capital and lowercase letters with this letter L sorting activity. This activity has a summer theme. This sorting activity is suitable for preschool and kindergarten students who are learning to recognize the letter L and to distinguish between capital and lowercase letters. Students can work independently or in pairs to sort each letter to the correct mat. Use loop and hook fasteners (if desired) to place the cards on the correct sorting mat. * Baking Tray Game - Place the mats side by side on a baking tray. Place magnets on the back of the cards so they stick to the mats on the cookie sheet when sorted. This sorting activity is low prep. The teacher needs to print out the mats and card pages. The card pages need to be cut out so students can sort them. The pages can be laminated if desired so that this sorting activity can be used over and over.

Take your Pre-K and kindergarten learners on a journey through the Amazon rainforest with this fun-filled set of activities. There’s something for all types of learners as they focus on colors and animal adaptations in the rainforest biome. They’ll begin their journey with an engaging mini-book that tells about 10 rainforest animals. Created with beginning readers in mind, the story offers repetitive sentences, sight words, and colorful graphics. On each page learners will also be introduced to adjectives describing adaptations of each animal. Afterwards, each learner will have the opportunity to personalize their own book. This is a great way for them to build connections with learning and practice their reading skills with family and friends. Next, they’ll move on to several hands-on activities where they will strengthen foundational fine motor skills through tracing, cutting, gluing, manipulating modeling dough, and pretending to feed a baby hummingbird using a pipette. Along with those skills, your learners will practice concepts such as counting, writing, identifying color words, sorting, patterns, and following directions. Each activity was designed to meet current educational standards while highlighting the unique characteristics of animals such as the pink river dolphin, harpy eagle, black caiman, leaf-cutter ant, and red-eyed tree frog.
