The Word Starts With... Worksheet
ELA, Language Development, Phonics, Kindergarten, Preschool, Grade 1, Worksheets & Printables, Worksheets
Setting the foundation for reading is a major feat for teachers because we strive to make all of our students feel successful. There are many moving pieces to this new skill for young learners. Learning letter sounds is one of the many necessary components. Another skill that we tackle is students being able to view an image and determine what sound that image begins or ends with. That is the objective of this product. On the first two pages of The Word Starts With…, students will look at the image and determine whether it starts with the letter on the left or right. On the last two pages, students will determine whether the name of the image ends with the letter on the left or right. There are 60 problems for students to complete – 30 for beginning sounds and 30 for ending sounds. This worksheet is most appropriate for students being introduced to or reviewing sounds: preschool – 1st grade students. You can implement this activity in a few ways: 1. Independent work 2. Early finishers 3. Small group 4. Literacy centers If you want them to use these over and over again, you can laminate each page and have students use dry erase markers. I hope you enjoy! Walrus Facts | Interactive Science Lesson educates students on the biology and behavior of walruses. This digital slideshow can supplement a middle school science curriculum in a variety of settings. Students start by watching an informative video introducing key details about the physical characteristics, habitat, reproduction, and feeding patterns of these marine mammals. Next, students read a passage with audio support to reinforce comprehension of essential walrus facts. The lesson concludes with a close reading activity and a quick write prompt for students to summarize and apply their new knowledge. Implement as a whole class presentation, small group work, or even an independent learning module in both traditional and home classrooms. The mix of informal assessments keeps learners engaged as they expand their understanding of these unique creatures.
