Grammar Fix it Sentences and Posters

Grammar Fix it Sentences and Posters
ELA, Grammar, Grade 1, 2, Posters, Classroom Decor

Are you looking for a fun & interactive way to reinforce & teach writing conventions? These posters, fix it sentences and paragraphs do just that! Itintroduces the 5 primary rules for writing: Capitals, spaces between words, spelling, correct end marks and does your writing make sense with fun hands that can be kept "handy" when writing! Fix up sentences and short paragraphsare also included for students to correct. This easy to follow resource which teaches beginning writing in a fun and interactive way is great for early writers! It includes15 posters for the 5 primary rules for writing: Capitals, spaces between words, spelling, correct end marks and does your writing make sense. Sentences and short paragraphsare also included for students to correct. It is tried and true and I have used it with much success in my first grade classroom. Here's What is Included: ★15 Posters for the 5 primary rules for writing listed above. ★Hands with “Give me Five” which includes the 5 primary rules for writing: Do you have capitals, Do you spaces between words, Do you have end marks, Did you use your best spelling and Does it make sense? ★Posters to explain and teach each rule with examples to correct or decide which is the best way to write. There are 15 posters for your use or display, which are created in color and black and white. They can be posted in a writing station/center or can be used as a teaching tool if copied onto the smart board or used in PDF format on your smart board as well. ★A Black and White cover if you decide to make a booklet for each student to use as you teach the concepts or just to have all of the pages in one place. ★26 pages with 5 sentences on each page for students to rewrite and correct. They can be completed as one sentence a day and corrected together or however you choose to use them. ★7 pages of short paragraphs to correct and place end marks as needed to separate the sentences. All pages can be printed onto the smart board to be completed as a class...your choice! ★All pages are duplicated with the corrections as an answer sheet if needed. How I have used these pages with my first and second graders: ★ Laminated and gave each student a hand to clip into their writing journals as a reminder of what he/she needs to remember when writing and for use whenever students are writing. I also placed some of these in areas where students write and in table baskets. ★I copied all posters onto the smart board and used each one separately each week to discuss and teach a particular concept. I told my kiddos that I was looking for that concept in their writing that week. So, if I taught the first poster , which is using capitals at the beginning of sentences, then I was expecting them to remember that and use capitals at the beginning of sentences. I taught and discussed each poster in this manner. Sometimes, for example; I taught more than one concept a week. Perhaps 2-3 a week when using all the times we need to use capitals as there are many posters explaining capitalization. ★I taught capitalization and end marks, I then introduced the Edit pages and at first we did one sentence a day together only focusing on capitalization and end marks. After I felt the students could manage this on their own, they did one sentence, which took a minute or two independently during a quick “Daily Edit” time and we went over it together. Children explained why the correction needed to be made and everyone used a crayon...not pencil...to make their corrections to self reflect on their errors. We then took a few minutes to have a share out...What did you learn...why was that important...how did you know to do that etc. ★ When they seemed fairly competent with this skill, then we moved onto the next poster and continued in this manner doing a few samples together until we completed all the posters. ★When all skills were taught, then we did the daily edit everyday as described above in #3. ★By this time, students were expected to understand what and how to use the conventions. Of course not everyone was proficient!!! The paragraph pages can also be used in cooperative groups or with partners. What was clear after using the “Give Me 5” ideas, was that the students had a tool on which to rely and to use during independent writing. This easy to follow resource which teaches beginning writing in a fun and interactive way is great for early writers!

Alphabet Flashcards Here is a colourful set of Alphabet Flashcards – sure to delight any child. As a bonus, as I know that some children are transport lovers, I have included two pictures for some letters to provide a form of transport to appeal to these children (i.e.: H for helicopter, R for rocket, L for lorry, F for fire and fire engine, A for ambulance). This set of alphabet flashcards is equally suited to a variety of needs: · The parent with a young child · The teacher in the classroom · The classroom assistant · The SEN teacher · The ESL/EFL teacher They can be used in all situations to help children learn those all-important alphabet/beginning/initial sounds and become familiar with both upper- and lower-case letter shapes. Suggested ways in which to use the Alphabet Flashcards: · Pin them on the wall in order as a display: ask the child to point to the letters either by name, by sound, or by picture (beginning sound). · Look around the house/classroom for things that begin with the same sound as the object on a given flashcard. · Choose several cards (suitable for the needs of the child you are playing with) and lay them out on the table face up: Play I spy: I spy with my little eye something beginning with ‘….’. · Bean bag toss: Lay a selection of flashcards on the floor and give the child a bean bag. Ask – can you toss the bean bag onto the picture that begins with..’..’. · Print duplicates and play snap! · Help the child to put the flashcards in alphabetical order! Format: Four flashcards print to an A4 page, formatted to fit the page on a cheap HP printer. It is advised that the flashcards be laminated to make them more durable. They will get hard wear! What is included? 1 PDF 11 pages 46 pictures (2 for some sounds as indicated above) For a comprehensive set of alphabet flashcards, with letters and 2 sets of picture cards, see here. When children are first starting to learn letter shapes and sounds, it is helpful to have a handy reference chart that they can use to aid recall of letter shapes and a picture cue to the sound each letter stands for.

60 Blob-Style Clipart Backgrounds – For Teaching Materials, Posters, and Digital Resources Hand-drawn blobs to add color and personality to your classroom designs 🎨 PNG If you're creating your own worksheets, presentations, or classroom posters, it’s nice to have design elements that make your materials feel more individual and inviting—without distracting from the content. That’s why I created these 60 background cliparts in a fun, blob-inspired style. Each element is hand-drawn using Procreate and saved as a high-quality PNG file , so they’re easy to insert into PowerPoint, Canva, Word, Google Slides, or any digital notebook like GoodNotes. You can use them for headers, cover pages, memory cards, game materials, or just to decorate your resources in a way that feels personal and clear. What’s included (all in PNG format): 12 circular blob backgrounds 12 oval backgrounds 12 wavy washi-tape blobs 12 transparent organic blobs 12 striped transparent overlays That makes 60 colorful, flexible clipart pieces you can mix and match across your projects. Ideas for use: I’ve used these blobs to decorate task cards, brighten up classroom rules, create printable posters, or make front and back covers for student folders. They also work really well for memory games or station cards. Because they’re not too detailed, they’re ideal as visual anchors without drawing attention away from your content. Usage: ✔ Personal use ✔ Commercial use allowed within the educational space – for example, in your own worksheets or printables ✘ No resale or sharing of the raw PNG files These backgrounds are meant to give your materials a light, creative touch – whether you teach young learners or older students. No fancy design software needed, just drag, drop, and go. Best, Heike from Lernfitness Did You Know?
