Students can practice recognizing the beginning sounds in words with this matching game. The bold, colorful, and easy to recognize images will assist students in completing this activity independently or with a partner. The colorful nature of this game will keep students engage as they match each picture to its beginning sound. What is Included There 136 different picture cards in two different formats, one with just the picture and one with the picture and the word with the beginning sound missing for students to fill in. capital and lowercase letter cards for students to match with each picture. How to Use: This set of cards can be used as a traditional matching game, where students work together or independently to match each picture to the beginning sound. This set can be used as a concentration game where students lay all the cards face down and they work to match the picture with its beginning sound or to match two cards with the same beginning sound. The picture cards with words can be laminated and students can use dry erase markers to write the beginning sound of each word on the blank line. Students can match the capital and lowercase letters. Where to Use: Literacy Centers - These beginning sound cards can be placed inside a literacy center for students to work alone or with a partner to complete. Morning Bins - These cards can be used as a morning activity for students to complete while waiting on classmates to arrive to class. Small Group Activity - Students who need extra help identifying sounds in words can be put in a small group to get further practice with this skill. Skills Assessed: With these cards teachers can assess a student's ability to identify beginning sounds in words, matching the beginning sound with its appropriate letter, and matching two pictures that begin with the same beginning sound.

This collection offers a diverse range of worksheets on area and perimeter of rectangles. The worksheets are organized into sets, each dedicated to a specific approach or level of difficulty. The introductory set, "Area 1," requires the students count individual squares ... essentially the simplest way to find the area. As the work progresses, they'll encounter the use of formulas, both with and without the visual support of rectangles divided into squares. The "Perimeter" set starts with simple addition and gradually introduces the application of formulas, both with and without the visual support of the rectangles divided into squares. The "Challenge Set" brings together the students knowledge requires students to synthesize their knowledge of area and perimeter, as well as the inverse relationship between multiplication and division, to solve multi-step problems. Lots and lots. At the click of a button all numbers are randomised, so the questions change every time. This will allow you to create as many new worksheets you will need for practice throughout the year (classwork, homework, revision, fillers etc) or even give small groups of students in your class different sets of questions either at the same level or differentiated . There will certainly be enough to ensure fluency in this topic. You could also use any of the worksheets to explain or introduce the subject to your class as you will have almost unlimited examples to work with and they will be different from the actual worksheets you hand out to your students. As these worksheets need little explanation and no preparation, they are ideal if you need to leave work for a substitute teacher. Answers found on the second page of every worksheet are automatically generated when you create a new worksheet. These printables require no preparation on your part. With answers automatically generated every time you can create a new worksheet it makes them ideal for substitute teachers on short notice. They have the same color code as the ones in the previously discussed list. Beginning Blends Puzzles

Kindergarten and first grade students can practice reading and spelling words with beginning consonant blends with these beginning blend puzzles. With 42 different puzzles, students will have ample practice with reading and spelling one syllable words with beginning blends. What is Included: The 42 beginning blend puzzles contain easy to recognize images for students to create beginning blend words. Each puzzle contains 4 pieces, and each piece contains one letter for each word. Puzzles are included for each beginning blend, including r blends, l blends, and s blends. How to Use: Students will use the bold, colorful pictures as a guide to build each beginning blends word. Once they have the picture correct, students can read and practice spelling the word the picture represents. When to Use: Literacy Centers - The teacher can place these puzzles inside a literacy center for students to work independently or with a partner to complete. Morning Bins - The teacher can create a morning work activity that students can work on while waiting on their classmates to arrive to class. Small Group Activity - The teacher can pull aside small groups of students who need extra practice reading and spelling words with beginning blends to complete these puzzles. These beginning blend puzzles provide ample practice for students to get familiar with one syllable words that contain a beginning blend. Students will have fun learning about beginning blends and they will stay engaged with completing each puzzle. Skills Assessed: These puzzles assess students ability to complete puzzles using picture clues and provides practice with recognizing, reading, and spelling beginning blends. These puzzles are low prep. They need to be printed out and cut apart for students to complete. The teacher may choose to laminate the pieces for durability. The puzzle pieces fit easily inside a task box, allowing for easy set up, clean up, and storage for this literacy center .

The Southern Colonies in North America, a classroom skit

This play complements the other plays I have on TeachSimple about the colonial era in American History. You can also find the Life in the Middle Colonies and Life in the New England Colonies plays here. My 7th graders have enjoyed these for years. However, these work well for all grades between 6th and 12th. History comes alive in the classroom when students are using plays and skits. Reader's Theater is a great way to enhance any lesson, including the southern colonies, either to introduce some of the characteristics of this region or reinforce what you have been teaching. There are four roles in this play. It will take about 15-20 minutes to complete. Although the play was created by me it is based on an actual historical figure of that time - Henry Middleton and the Middleton family. The Middleton Plantation still exists in the Charleston area in South Carolina. The gardens he started are still there. All of my skits are written to engage students and get them thinking. This is what I call a "lesson enhancer". It will help add to any lesson on life in the southern English provinces.
