5 FREE Initial Sounds Worksheets: d
Language Development, ELA, Phonics, Kindergarten, Preschool, Worksheets & Printables, Worksheets
5 Initial Sounds Worksheets: d A pack of 5 worksheets to help children learn to recognise the letter 'd' by both its shape and its sound, while also building correct letter formation from the very start. Each worksheet approaches the sound from a slightly different angle, so the child gets plenty of repetition without it ever feeling repetitive. Worksheet 1 asks the child to read a row of letters, tracing each one and saying the sound aloud, before naming a set of pictures and writing the initial sound underneath each - bringing sound, shape and word together in one simple task. Worksheet 2 has the child trace a large, chunky version of the letter, then hunt through a group of jumbled letters to find every occurrence of the target letter, tracing and saying the sound each time they spot one - a lovely way to sharpen visual discrimination alongside letter recognition. Worksheets 3 to 5 build on this foundation with a variety of engaging activities - among them, listening for the target sound among a set of pictures and colouring only those that begin with it, matching the letter to pictures that share its sound, and a hands-on cut-and-stick activity where the child finds, names and sticks down the pictures that begin with the sound, saying it aloud as they go. Throughout the pack, correct pencil hold and letter formation are encouraged, with directional arrows and starting dots to guide the child. What is included: 1 PDF containing 5 worksheets. Printing and paper Print on A4 paper, or reduce to A5 if preferred. More This pack is one of a full set covering every initial sound, so you can build up your own complete collection one sound at a time, or move steadily through the alphabet alongside your phonics teaching. Initial sounds - Phonics Workbook
ELA, Language Development, Phonics, Kindergarten, Preschool, Workbooks, Worksheets & Printables
Sound-it-out: Little Phonic Book – Initial Sounds This is a simple, no-nonsense workbook for teaching initial sounds to young children, with one page dedicated to each letter of the alphabet from Aa to Zz. Each page follows the same easy-to-use format: the letter is shown in both upper and lower case, with a large tracing letter and directional arrows to guide correct pencil formation. Around the letter are several black-and-white line drawings of objects beginning with that sound, ready for your child to colour in. Underneath each picture is a space for your child to write the initial letter themselves, turning the page into a proper little independent task rather than just a look-and-colour sheet. To help build in review and repetition, each page also includes one picture representing the sound taught the day before, so your child gets a gentle recap every single day without it ever feeling repetitive. A few pages go further still, blending two sounds into simple words such as "on" and "off", or asking your child to write a letter into a gap to complete a word - lovely small steps towards blending before formal reading begins. How to use: The book is designed to be used alongside flashcard introduction of each sound: talk about the letter and the sound it makes, look at each picture together and say the word aloud (a nice chance to build spoken vocabulary too), then let your child write the sound and colour the "odd one out" picture that doesn't belong. Suitable for children aged three to five, and easily adapted to the individual: felt tip pens work well for younger children, while a chunky pencil often suits five-year-olds better. A companion resource, "Colour Initial Sounds", is also available for further practice. What is included? 26 pages in PDF form

It is an easy activity to use in the classroom, in small groups, or at home. The set includes 12 colors and 24 matching pairs in 2 different versions , so you can choose the one that works best for your students or use both for extra practice. The colorful little characters make the game more engaging for young children, while the simple card design keeps the focus on the vocabulary. This engaging activity helps kids practice reading, vocabulary, and visual memory by matching cards. -------------------------------------------------------- How to Play: 1. Print the pages on regular or cardstock paper. (Optional) Laminate the cards for extra durability and long-term use. Cut out the cards along the lines. 2. Lay the cards face down. 3. Players take turns flipping two cards. 4. If the cards match (word + picture or picture + picture), keep the pair and go again. 5. If they don’t, flip them back and let the next player try. 6. Unlock the future of personalized nutrition with this comprehensive, 42-page curriculum on Nutrigenomics and DNA-Based Diet Planning . Are your students or clients tired of one-size-fits-all health advice? This digital resource is the perfect tool to bridge the gap between complex genetic data and real-world, actionable meal planning. Designed for advanced learners, this unit moves beyond basic nutrition and dives into the cutting-edge science of how our unique genetic makeup dictates our response to foods. Students will learn to translate raw genetic data (SNPs) from common variants like MTHFR, APOE, TCF7L2, CYP1A2 (caffeine metabolism), and MCM6 (lactose intolerance) into highly personalized dietary protocols. This is not just a lecture—it's a complete, turnkey educational package perfect for AP Biology, IB Biology, university-level nutrition or genetics courses, and professional development for health coaches and dietitians. What's Included in This 42-Page All-in-One Resource: Part 1: Core Content & Theory (11 pages): A robust introduction to the molecular paradigm of nutrition, covering the genetics of macronutrient metabolism, enzymatic pathways (caffeine & lactose), and a hierarchical approach to building a DNA-based meal plan. Includes two detailed case studies (Elena & Marcus) that demonstrate how to synthesize multiple genetic factors into a cohesive plan. Part 2: Student Workbook (20 pages): Ten in-depth, high-level worksheets that guide students through an analytical process. They will map their own (or a case study's) genetic predispositions related to: Caffeine Metabolism (CYP1A2) Lactose Persistence (MCM6/LCT) Folate Metabolism (MTHFR) Lipid Transport & Saturated Fat (APOE/APOA2) Starch Digestion (AMY1) Vitamin D Receptor (VDR) Sodium Sensitivity (ACE/AGT) Histamine Degradation (DAO) And a final, integrated "Master Meal Plan" worksheet. Place Value Task Cards Value of the Underlined Digit Math Activity
Math, Numbers, Early Math, Place Value, Homeschool Curriculum, Grade 2, 3, 4, 5, Centers, Activities, Games, Task Cards, Worksheets & Printables
Are you looking for place value practice that goes beyond simply naming ones, tens, and hundreds? These place value task cards help students think more carefully about the value of digits and how that value depends on where a digit appears in a number. I've found that students can sometimes name a place correctly but still confuse the place with the value. For example, knowing that a 6 is in the hundreds place doesn't always mean they'll immediately connect it with a value of 600. These 24 cards give them practice making that connection. What’s Included 24 place value task cards A recording sheet for student answers Answer key for all cards PDF format for printing A Closer Look at the Practice Questions vary throughout the set. Some ask students to find the value of an underlined digit, while others ask for the digit located in a particular place. The later cards also introduce the relationship between place values, asking students to consider whether a digit has ten times or one-tenth the value of another digit. Numbers range from smaller whole numbers through the millions. Where These Fit These cards work well in Grades 2–5, depending on the place value range you're currently teaching. Use them during a math center, with a small group, for partner practice, or as a whole-class Scoot activity. They're also handy when you need independent review without preparing another worksheet. Place Value Skills Place and value of digits Value of underlined digits Ones through millions Reading larger whole numbers Relationships between adjacent place values Print the cards once and keep them with your place value materials. You can use the whole set or pull out just the cards that suit your students at the time.
