This phonemic awareness activity includes 25 pages with 12 phonemic awareness activities on each page. I use these lists (one page per week, all year) as an all-class activity. Each page explicitly tells you, the teacher, what to say to the class, and what you should hear back from the whole class at the same time, if they are responding correctly. Practice skills included are: initial, medial, and final sounds, blending, and segmenting. If someone makes a mistake you can easily hear it and go over/explain the item to the class. I like to say my part, then snap two times for students to have think time. Then I place my hand palm up, as if to say GO AHEAD, in order to keep them in unison in their responses. Here is an example of one page- 1. First sound: I say- say, sit, sun They say- /s/ 2. First sound segmentation: I say- seed They say first sound, then the rest: /s/+eed 3. Final sound- I say- mat, bit, late They say: /t/ 4. Final sound segmentation: I say- pat They say the word, with last sound separate: /pa/+/t/ 5. Segmenting 3 sounds: I say- pig They say /p/ /i/ /g/ 6. Blending initial clusters: I say- /s/ top They say: stop 7. Segmenting 4 sounds. I say- flick They say: /f/ /l/ /i/ /k/ 8. Phonics / Digraphs for 1st -2nd: Ending Sounds: CK, NG, SH, TH, and NK

Reading can be made easier with these phonic helps that repeatedly encourage students to practice these Ending Digraph sounds. Learning how to read can be the most challenging activity for many students and for a teacher. A digraph in the English language are two letters put together that represents a single sound or phoneme. Understanding that the combination of letters can make one sound can be difficult to master and requires repetitive practice of reading and writing these words with these sounds. This unit focuses only on the Ending Digraph sounds. There are other phonics units that I sell that focuses on the Beginning Digraph sounds, and one that focuses on all three digraph sounds in the Beginning, Middle and End. Activities include reading comprehension and identifying the digraphs in their reading, writing their answers to questions regarding the paragraph, identifying additional ending digraph words in sentences using a word bank, matching words with pictures, spinning a paperclip activity where students will write the word with the digraph sound, and lastly a fun wordsearch with the ending digraph words. These activities are for each digraph so there is plenty of opportunities for students to practice their comprehension reading skills and phonic sounds. Students will practice the following Ending Digraph sounds: ck, ng, sh, th, and nk. Teachers can use this resource in whole group, individually with students, students can practice with each other in centers, or they can be assigned as homework. Worksheets are also differentiated for each Ending Digraph sound for all young learners which makes it perfect for all 1st - 2nd graders. A total of 33 pages full of reading and phonic activities. Along with reading and writing, there are matching, cutting, and pasting activities. Word searches and spin and make a word activity are also a part of this packet which make learning to read these phonic sounds entertaining for young learners. Learn Initial Sounds N: Lesson 14 teaches the letter Nn and its related phonic sound through a 34-slide PowerPoint lesson, and 5 follow-up activity worksheets. All you need to teach the phonic letter N! Whether in school or at home, this series of phonic presentations can help you effectively teach initial/beginning sounds to all pupils, including those with special needs/dyslexia. This lesson is part of a synthetic, systematic phonics programme for all abilities including those suspected of being dyslexic. This lesson is in the first stage of the Reading Made Simple programme where we teach the initial, or beginning, sounds. The ability to hear the initial/beginning sound is stressed throughout, while we learn to associate each letter with its sound. Each lesson can stand alone but the activities will presume knowledge of the previous letters in the alphabet as Reading Made Simple teaches the initial sounds in alphabetical order. Special features of the Learn Initial Sounds N: Lesson 14 The PowerPoint is silent so that you can interact with your child in the best way for them: full instructions are provided at the bottom of each slide - be sure to show 'Notes'. The PowerPoint is editable so that you can make it fit your pupils. Science of Reading Aligned Truly phonetic; no 'i' for 'ice-cream'. We focus heavily on phonemic awareness which is so necessary for a head start in phonics The child is given plenty of opportunities to learn the necessary skills - perfection is not expected in lesson 1. It can be used in multiple ways: As the child learns each sound, you can use the PowerPoint lesson to reinforce your lesson It can be sent home for a child to watch with his/her parents after being taught the letter Nn in class - this will then act as revision as well as training the parent as to what is necessary to help the child. Use in class Use at home by parents or for home education Suggested Method: Introduce each letter in turn to your pupil. Have a flashcard of the letter ready. Say each letter's sound to the child and ask him/her to repeat it thrice. Explain that some words begin with this sound. Give an example. You can use the lesson as teacher training for yourself, to learn how to teach your child, or to use it with the child. Choose suitable activities (matching your child's ability) from the pack of worksheets. Notes are suggestions only. Use language appropriate to your pupil and be sure to interact naturally. Each student will choose a famous artist, complete focused research about their life and artistic style, and create an organized project with paragraphs and visuals to share their learning. How to Use: •Print pages 2-13 for each student. •Page 2 has instructions for the project including spots to write due dates and a checklist to keep students on track. You can assign a specific era for students to pick artists from or give them a list of artists. •Page 3 has seven different prompts for students to research.
