This fully planned out unit, straying away from Climate Anxiety and allowing students to build agency related to climate action, can be printed right out of this document and used in the classroom immediately. Designed for use in Grades 5–7 (ages 10–14), students will progress through this unit comprehensively by learning about the Carbon Cycle, measuring their actual CO₂e emissions, and creating their own personal plan for sustainability. The unit provides scientific text, real-world case studies (i.e. The Life of a White Cotton T-shirt), 10 individual audit worksheets related to home energy, transportation, diet, consumption, and water use. There is a Carbon Calculator provided which translates students' daily habits into actual data as well as templates for SMART Goal Setting and Advocacy Letters to promote action from students after completing the project. The materials align with NGSS (Earth and Human Activity Standard) and are ideal for Earth Day, STEM, or to promote Environmental Literacy throughout the rest of the school year. Not only does this package come with an extensive Teacher's Guide complete with answer keys, grading rubrics, visual aids, and a flexible 5-day pacing guide; the materials have been scaffolded to help mitigate eco-anxiety with both kindness and evidence-based science. The highlights include: 4 engaging chapters on greenhouse gases, CO₂e, and Life Cycle Assessment 10 student audit worksheets and a Carbon Calculator to synthesize student audit results SMART Goals Workshop for setting student action plans and evaluating systemic actions Professional writing activity related to Advocacy Letters A comprehensive Teacher Key, including Answer Keys, Grading Rubrics, and 5-Day Unit Plan All materials have been classroom-tested and proved to be effective. Appreciated by Parents and Educators: Empowerment Versus Fear – Empowers children and youth to make positive changes by turning their fear of climate change into tangible steps they can take themselves. Real-World Math/Data Skills – Develops mathematics and data-based skills through the calculation of CO₂e from current activities, reinforcing applied math and unit conversion skills and improving critical thinking. Systems Thinking – Students develop a deeper understanding of system relationships and the ripple effects of human activity on the ecological system through Life Cycle Assessment (T-shirts) and permafrost feedback loops. Teacher-friendly, Minimal Prep/Materials Needed – All materials required for implementation are provided (e.g., rubrics, answer keys, visuals, and 5-day pacing guides), so even non-science specialists can implement without difficulty. Opens Up Conversation at Home/School/Community – The advocacy letter and family audit provide an avenue for discussion beyond the classroom, resulting in actual changes to household sustainability. Targeted Grade Levels: The statement in the introduction clearly states that targeted grade levels are ‘5th, 6th, and 7th Grade.’ Therefore, because the math being introduced in this program involves multiplication, metric/unit conversions, basic percentage reasoning and cognitive complexity, I believe students in grades 5 through 7 will best use this resource as follows: Primary Group: 5th – 7th Grade (10-13 year olds) Secondary/Extension Group: (4th Grade) Advanced; 8th – 9th Grade as a basic review of what they learned in grades 5 and/or 6. The Bill of Rights Unit (and a Little About Amendments 11-27)

The Bill of Rights Unit (and a Little About Amendments 11-27)
Social Studies, Government, Grade 6, 7, 8, Lesson Plans, Teacher Tools, Crosswords Puzzles, Tests, Worksheets & Printables

The purpose of this 49-page mini-unit is for students in grades 6-12 to develop a clear understanding of what their rights are under the Constitution, particularly our rights under the Bill of Rights. Increasingly, Americans, especially students, are not able to name many of the rights we are entitled to in the Bill of Rights. They are well aware of Amendment 2 and parts of Amendment 1, and the “I plead the fifth” clause of Amendment 5, but they are woefully uninformed of the other rights that protect us. This mini-unit is designed to give students not only a complete understanding of these rights but opportunities to put their knowledge into practice through the various worksheets and a culminating project at the end of the unit, which is available separately in my store,, “A Great Good Place for Teachers,” called The Bill of Rights: A Project to Assess Knowledge and Understanding. The ultimate goal is for them to have a healthy and complete understanding of why these basic rights are so necessary for our democracy. This mini-unit is part of my unit: “Our Living Consitution” which is designed using the Into, Through, and Beyond model of lesson planning. The lessons in the Our Living Constitution unit can be used independently or as a supplement to what you already teach or as a whole. Here is a summary of what is in the unit. Check out my store: A Great Good Place for Teachers Here are the links Into Lessons: Creating Schema Lesson 1: Overview of the Constitution of the United States of America Lesson 2: Origins of the Constitution and Essential Terms Lesson 3: The Seven Principles of the Constitution Through Lessons: Learning the Content Lesson 4: The Preamble: The Goals of the Constitution (not included in Our Living Constitution) Lesson 5: The Three Branches of Government: Articles 1, 2, and 3 Lesson 6: How a Bill Becomes a Law Lesson 7: Federalism, Separation of Powers, and Checks and Balances Lesson 8: Articles 4, 5, 6, and 7 of the United States Constitution Lesson 9: The Bill of Rights Unit (and a Little About Amendments 11-27) Extras (from the Unit: Every Four Years… The Presidential Election) Lesson 10: What Are Your Political Viewpoints ? Jugglers Reading Comprehension Passage - Cored Ed Encyclopedia

Jugglers Reading Comprehension Passage - Cored Ed Encyclopedia
ELA, Reading Comprehension, Reading, Language Development, History, Social Studies, Geography, Pre-Reading, Vocabulary, Spelling, Grade 2, 3, 4, 5, Worksheets & Printables, Worksheets, Teacher Tools, Centers, Activities, Writing Prompts, Assessments, Quizzes and Tests, Quizzes, Lesson Plans

This Jugglers reading comprehension with lesson plan includes: Visualization (on the front cover) Start your lesson by taking a minute to think and share something about the topic. Read the script aloud (slowly), perhaps prepare some music or sound effects. Student close their eyes and let their imaginations wander. Students open their eyes, read the question aloud and give them a few minutes to complete. Ask a few students to share or keep answers until the end to compare with what they learn in the passage. Quick pause—thousands of Cored Education products are included with your TeachSimple membership. Download links and encyclopedia index available here. Pre-Reading Trivia Students will write down one thing they already know about the subject and then read five more facts and discuss. These facts are fun, and the students will enjoy learning about the subject before reading more. Give 1 minute for students to write what they already know (no pressure—best guess is fine). Read the five facts together. After each fact, do ask a student for their opinion, was it surprising? Set a purpose by asking students to highlight/underline one fact they want to learn more about during the reading. Reading Passage The text is a high-interest reading passage with set paragraphs, roughly three to four paragraphs long. It contains a variety of themes about the topic, anywhere from history to technology. The passage is between 250 and 350 words in length. First, ask students to look at the headings and see what they’ll learn about today. What do they know about the topic/heading? First read options: Teacher read-aloud (best for support). Partner reading (paragraph by paragraph). While reading, students underline important details, and vocabulary words they think may come up in the questions section. Mixed Questions The first question page contains four multiple-choice questions, each with a choice of four answers, and three written response questions that require a sentence or two from the student. Students complete the mcqs first independently, then review quickly as a class. For the 3 written responses, try to get students giving the answer with some form of evidence: “I think ___ because the text says ___.” If students get stuck, send them back to check the passage. Vocabulary Questions Practice seven key words from the text in this section across two activities. First section is scrambled words where students will unscramble three words given a clue for each. The second section is a word to meaning matching activity. Before starting, have some students read out words they underlined in the passage. Ask students to say the word and read aloud the sentence(s) around each word. Ask students to do scrambled words and the matching exercise in pairs then go through answers as a class. For the scrambled spelling task, get four pairs to come up to the board and write the words for extra practice with the other student reading out the clue. For the matching task, prompt students to give full sentences: “I matched ___ with ___ because ___.” Creative Writing In this question, the student will be required to write a five to eight sentence paragraph on a question related to the topic. Before starting, ask students write down 3 key ideas they are going to include in their piece. Ask students for ideas to share around the class to help those struggling. Pro writing expectations: 5–8 sentences At least 2 facts or details from the passage At least 2 vocabulary words from the previous page Students read their paragraphs while classmates listen for facts and vocabulary words. Extension Activities This page is optional for fast finishers or to take home. There are several activities, each one requiring a different skill. Do some, do none, do all, completely optional - but you will feel reassured knowing every possibility is planned for. Includes summary writting question and additional facts. Answer Key There are answers for the multiple-choice questions, written response questions have sample answers, vocabulary answers and if there is a summary question then a sample summary will be provided as well. Lesson Plan Included Customized lesson plan for this lesson is included. Lesson Snapshot Title: Jugglers Genre: Nonfiction (informational text) Subject: Reading (Informational Text) / Social Studies / Arts Primary Topic: Juggling across history and repeating patterns Estimated Guided Reading Level (A–Z): S What This Lesson Teaches Best Traces juggling through time and places (ancient Egypt, China, Greece/Rome, Europe, and today). Uses a historical example (an Egyptian tomb painting) to explain evidence of early juggling and what it suggests about audiences. Highlights performance skills jugglers show—control, timing, courage—and how crowds can understand the act “without any words.” Explains change over time: juggling’s reputation in Europe after the Roman Empire weakened, and how modern circuses brought it into the spotlight. Emphasizes the repeating pattern at the heart of juggling (throw, wait, catch, repeat) and connects it to learning rhythm with patience. Learning Goals Describe what the Egyptian tomb painting shows and why the passage calls it an early picture of toss juggling. Explain how juggling was used to impress or amaze people in different cultures mentioned in the text. Describe how some people in Europe viewed jugglers later and explain what the skill did instead of disappearing. Identify the basic juggling pattern named in the passage and explain why it matters. Compare where a juggler might perform today (stage, circus ring, sidewalk) and explain what stays the same. Key Vocabulary From the Text tomb — a place where someone is buried. audiences — groups of people watching a performance. festivals — celebrations with events and crowds. rhythm — a steady beat or timing pattern. wrongdoing — doing something people believe is wrong. Biology Binder Covers – Templates for Classroom Use Organize your biology handouts, notes, and units with visual clarity Simple and flexible templates to help organize your biology materials In my biology classes, it can be a challenge to keep things organized - especially when it comes to multiple units, lab notes, worksheets and review materials. To make it easier for my students and myself, I designed these simple binder sleeves. There are 12 different pages. The covers have a clean, colorful blob layout that is friendly but not distracting. I usually print them out and use them as cover sheets or as dividers in folders for students or teachers. They also work well for digital learning environments, e.g. as section covers in PDF files or on classroom platforms. I like that the color scheme allows students to quickly find what they are looking for, and it brings a little more structure to a subject that is often riddled with formulas and technical terms. When used as cover sheets, students can choose their favorite color for their cover sheet. This resource is handy - and has saved me a lot of time in lesson preparation and follow-up. What’s included: 12 biology-themed cover pages different colors zu choose as a cover sheet as a divider between the individual biology topics I've printed these on colored paper for my own binder and also used them digitally in student notebooks. Works well for both teacher organization and student-facing materials. 📍 Best wishes, Heike from Lernfitness Biology teacher (Chemistry teacher, Math teacher) in Germany Did You Know? I teach with a certified therapy dog, and together we create a positive and inspiring learning environment. 🐶✨

Initial sounds Phonics Test This is a fun test to find out whether children can hear the initial, or beginning sound of words, or not. The test requires the teacher to ask: What sound does _____ begin with? The child has bright colourful pictures on each of the three pages and plenty of space to record his/her answer next to each picture. Who is the Initial Sounds Phonics Test for? This test is for anyone who teaches the initial sounds to children, be that Pre-K, K, ESL, EFL, Private tutors, home educators, or parents at home. Full instructions as to how to administer the test are provided, including solutions in case of misidentification of pictures. Format: The test has a bright cover, with space for the child’s name. it also includes a quick reference chart so that the teacher can quickly see which sounds a child does not yet know. Instructions and rationale: Print as a booklet (A3 paper required), or print the A4 pages individually and staple them together. Full instructions are included. Testing has got a bad name, but it is crucial that every teacher informally tests all of their pupils regularly to make sure that every child is ready for the next step. If we wish children to succeed in learning to read and spell with phonics, then we must check this very first skill thoroughly. Children will not think it is a test, with its bright pictures and appealing layout. Testing tips: Make sure every child can hear the initial sounds before they start to blend. Help every child succeed in reading! During the test, speak clearly and repeat a word as often as needed. Observation of the child's response is as important as what the child records. Was there any hesitation? Did the child make any corrections? How confident did the child appear? Included: 1 PDF Which includes pages to make a 4-page booklet, including a cover Teacher instructions Size A4
