Once a child meets more advanced vocabulary, the child’s ability to decode will be such that they will no longer need consonant blends flashcards - the skill will be more or less automatic. A child does not need to know every consonant blend by heart. What is needed is the ability to hear the two sounds in a blend to spell and to blend two consonants to read. Phonemic awareness of the blends is a good place to start.
