Landforms Vocabulary word search, scramble and crossword puzzle
Holiday & Seasonal, ELA, Reading, Language Development, Vocabulary, Kindergarten, Grade 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, Word Searches, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables, Crosswords Puzzles

Landforms Vocabulary word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this landforms puzzle set for my 2nd and 3rd graders during our geography unit. The kids could point to a hill or a river but got lost when I threw in words like plateau, canyon, or delta. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like mountain, hill, valley, canyon, plateau, plain, desert, island, peninsula, coast, delta, river, lake, ocean, volcano, and cave. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the vocabulary stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue over the difference between a peninsula and an island. The crossword I use for partners. I added a couple simple mountain and river drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 1st through 4th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers pick three landforms and draw a tiny landscape on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

Women Astronauts word search, scramble and crossword puzzle

Women Astronauts word search, scramble and crossword puzzle
Holiday & Seasonal, ELA, Reading, Language Development, Vocabulary, Not Grade Specific, Word Searches, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables

Women Astronauts word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this women astronauts puzzle set for my 3rd and 4th graders during our space unit. The kids knew about Sally Ride and maybe Mae Jemison, but they had no idea about the history of women in space—from the very first woman to fly all the way to current astronauts. They kept asking questions like "Who went first?" and "Has a woman ever commanded a mission?" So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using key names and vocabulary: Sally Ride , Mae Jemison , Valentina Tereshkova , Eileen Collins , cosmonaut , astronaut , mission specialist , commander , orbit , space shuttle , and NASA . The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess, and the scramble gets them talking because they argue about how to spell "Valentina" or whether a cosmonaut and an astronaut are the same thing (they're from different countries' space programs—the kids always have opinions about it). The crossword I use for partners, and I usually have pictures of Sally Ride and Mae Jemison nearby for the kids who need a visual connection. Works for 3rd through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers pick one astronaut from the puzzles and write one fact about her on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

Irregular Verbs word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this irregular verbs puzzle set for my 3rd and 4th graders during our grammar unit. The kids could add "ed" to make regular past tense verbs but had no idea what to do with words like "go," "see," or "eat." So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using irregular verb pairs like go/went, see/saw, eat/ate, run/ran, sing/sang, drink/drank, swim/swam, begin/began, break/broke, choose/chose, speak/spoke, steal/stole, throw/threw, write/wrote, and drive/drove. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the irregular past tense finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about why "go" doesn't become "goed." The crossword I use for partners. I added a couple simple question mark and star drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 3rd through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers list five irregular verbs and their past tense forms on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

Positive Self-Talk word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this positive self-talk puzzle set for my 2nd and 3rd graders during our social-emotional learning unit. The kids could be hard on themselves but had no idea what words like positive, self-talk, or believe meant when we talked about the voice inside our heads. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like positive, self-talk, believe, can do it, try, strong, smart, kind, brave, and I can. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the positive self-talk vocabulary finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or indoor recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether saying "I can do it" actually helps you do it. The crossword I use for partners or as a review. I added a couple simple smiling face, star, and mirror drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 2nd through 4th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers write one positive thing they can say to themselves on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

Entrepreneurship Vocabulary word search, scramble and crossword puzzle
Holiday & Seasonal, ELA, Reading, Language Development, Vocabulary, Not Grade Specific, Word Searches, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables

Entrepreneurship Vocabulary word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this entrepreneurship vocabulary puzzle set for my 4th graders during our career exploration and economics unit. The kids could name a few business owners like Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos, but they had no idea what words like entrepreneur, venture, or scale meant when we talked about how people start and grow businesses. They also kept asking questions like "What's a business plan?" and "How do you get money to start a business?" So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like entrepreneur, venture, profit, loss, investment, capital, innovation, disrupt, startup, business plan, scaling, and bootstrapping . I also made sure to include "bootstrapping" because the kids were amazed that you can start a business with little to no money. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or independent practice. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about the spelling of "entrepreneur" or whether a startup has to be a tech company to be called a startup . The crossword I use for partners or as a review after we've watched a few short videos about kid entrepreneurs. I added a couple simple lightbulb, dollar sign, and rocket drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 4th through 6th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers pick one entrepreneurship term from the puzzles and write what it means on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

Grade 1 Beginning Sounds word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this beginning sounds puzzle set for my 1st graders during our phonics unit. The kids knew some letter sounds but kept mixing up sounds like b and p or m and n, especially when they had to identify the first sound of a word. They needed extra practice connecting the sound to the letter. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using simple words where each word starts with a different consonant: B (cat), C (cat—oops, that's a C, so I made sure to use words that start with each of the most common consonants, like B: bear, bat; M: man, mat; P: pen, pig; T: top, ten; S: sun, six; D: dog, dig; F: fish, fan; G: girl, gum; H: hat, hop; J: jump, jet; K: kit, kiss; L: lip, leg; N: net, nut; R: rat, run; V: van, vest; W: wet, win; Y: yak, yes; Z: zip, zoo) . The word search works well for quiet time after recess or independent practice. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether "bear" and "bat" start with the same sound (they do — B). The crossword I use for partners or as a review, and I always have a set of picture cards nearby for the kids who need the visual support to see the picture and hear the sound . I added a couple simple bear, cat, and dog drawings but nothing too busy. Works for K through 2nd grade, especially for kids who need that extra visual cue . Print and go. Physical Education Rules and Terms word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this physical education puzzle set for my 2nd and 3rd graders during our PE unit. The kids loved playing games but had no idea what words like sportsmanship, teamwork, or warm-up meant. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like physical education, PE, gym, teacher, warm up, cool down, stretch, sportsmanship, teamwork, respect, safety, equipment, ball, court, field, uniform, change, locker, whistle, and game. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the PE vocabulary finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about what good sportsmanship looks like. The crossword I use for partners. I added a couple simple soccer ball, whistle, and sneaker drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 2nd through 4th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers name one PE rule on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.
