Bilingual English-Spanish Colors word search, scramble and crossword p

Bilingual English-Spanish Colors word search, scramble and crossword p
Holiday & Seasonal, ELA, Reading, Language Development, Vocabulary, Kindergarten, Grade 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, Word Searches, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables, Crosswords Puzzles

Bilingual English-Spanish Colors word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this bilingual colors puzzle set for my 1st and 2nd graders during our dual language unit. The kids could name colors in English but had no idea what words like rojo, azul, or verde meant in Spanish. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like rojo/red, azul/blue, verde/green, amarillo/yellow, naranja/orange, morado/purple, rosa/pink, marrón/brown, negro/black, blanco/white, and gris/gray. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the color vocabulary finally stick in both languages. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or indoor recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether "marrón" and "café" both mean brown. The crossword I use for partners or as a review. I added a couple simple color block and Spanish flag drawings but nothing too busy. Works for K through 3rd grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers color a rainbow and label each color in both languages on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

Verb Tenses word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this verb tenses puzzle set for my 3rd and 4th graders during our grammar unit. The kids could say "I walk today, I walked yesterday" but had no idea what past, present, and future tense meant. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using past, present, and future examples like walk/walked/will walk, jump/jumped/will jump, play/played/will play, eat/ate/will eat, go/went/will go, see/saw/will see, run/ran/will run, and sing/sang/will sing. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the three tenses finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about why "go" becomes "went" instead of "goed." The crossword I use for partners. I added a couple simple yesterday, today, and tomorrow arrow drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 3rd through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers write one sentence in past, one in present, and one in future on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

High-Frequency Words Set 2 word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this high-frequency words puzzle set for my 1st and 2nd graders during our reading unit. The kids had mastered the first set of sight words but still needed practice with the next most common ones. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like would, could, should, every, over, think, walk, talk, because, through, thought, though, before, after, both, right, light, might, night, write, been, great, near, far, open, close, example, sentence, own, and world. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the next tier of high-frequency words finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about how to spell "through" versus "thought." The crossword I use for partners. I added a couple simple star and notebook drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 1st through 3rd grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers pick one word and use it in a sentence on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

Seven Wonders of the Ancient World word search, scramble and crossword
Holiday & Seasonal, ELA, Reading, Language Development, Vocabulary, Not Grade Specific, Word Searches, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables

Seven Wonders of the Ancient World word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this Seven Wonders of the Ancient World puzzle set for my 4th graders during our ancient civilizations unit. The kids had heard of the pyramids and maybe the hanging gardens, but they had no idea there was a whole list of incredible structures from classical antiquity—many of which they couldn't even pronounce . So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using the seven names we always learn: Great Pyramid of Giza (the only one still standing), Hanging Gardens of Babylon, Statue of Zeus at Olympia, Temple of Artemis at Ephesus, Mausoleum at Halicarnassus, Colossus of Rhodes, and Lighthouse of Alexandria . I also tossed in a few key terms like "Pharos" (the Greek word for lighthouse that the Alexandria one gave us), "ancient," and "wonder" because they kept coming up when we talked about what made these structures so impressive for their time. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or independent practice. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about how to spell "Halicarnassus" or whether the "Hanging" gardens actually hung (they didn't—the name comes from the Greek word for "overhanging" because of the terraces) . The crossword I use for partners or as a review after we've read about what happened to each of them. I added a couple simple pyramid, lighthouse, and statue drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 4th through 6th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers pick one of the seven and write one fact about what happened to it on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

Education Careers word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this education careers puzzle set for my 3rd and 4th graders during our career exploration unit. The kids could name teachers and principals, but they had no idea about all the other people who help run a school—like counselors, librarians, and paraprofessionals—or what words like curriculum, instruction, or assessment meant. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like teacher, principal, counselor, librarian, paraprofessional, substitute, curriculum, instruction, assessment, and student. I also made sure to include "mentor" and "coach" because the kids kept asking about people who help them learn outside the classroom. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or independent practice. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether a substitute teacher has to know everything a regular teacher knows or just "enough." The crossword I use for partners or as a review after we've talked about the roles in our school. I added a couple simple book, apple, and pencil drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 3rd through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers pick one education career from the puzzles and write what they do on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

Plastic-Free Living Vocabulary word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this plastic-free living vocabulary puzzle set for my 3rd and 4th graders during our environmental unit. The kids had heard of plastic but had no idea what words like reuse, avoid, or biodegradable meant when we started talking about how to reduce plastic use. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like plastic, reuse, recycle, reduce, avoid, biodegradable, compost, bottle, bag, straw, and container . Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the vocabulary finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess, and the scramble gets them talking because they argue about the spelling of "biodegradable" (it's a tricky one) or whether a compostable item is the same as a recyclable one (they're not—they always have opinions about it). The crossword I use for partners, and I usually have a few examples of reusable items nearby for the kids who need the visual support to see the vocabulary in action. Works for 3rd through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers write one thing they can do to use less plastic on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the library terms finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about the difference between fiction and nonfiction. The crossword I use for partners. I added a couple simple bookshelf and library card drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 3rd through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers name their favorite fiction and nonfiction book on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

Hanukkah Vocabulary word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this Hanukkah vocabulary puzzle set for my 2nd and 3rd graders during our winter holidays unit. The kids had heard of Hanukkah but had no idea what words like menorah, dreidel, or latke meant when we learned about different winter celebrations. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like Hanukkah, menorah, candle, dreidel, latke, sufganiyah, gelt, eight, night, miracle, oil, temple, Jewish, family, tradition, and light. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the Hanukkah vocabulary finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or indoor recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether a dreidel is a game or a toy. The crossword I use for partners or as a review. I added a couple simple menorah, dreidel, and candle drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 2nd through 4th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers draw a dreidel on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.
