Advocacy Words word search, scramble and crossword puzzle
Holiday & Seasonal, ELA, Reading, Language Development, Vocabulary, Kindergarten, Grade 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, Word Searches, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables, Crosswords Puzzles
Advocacy Words word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this advocacy words puzzle set for my 4th and 5th graders during our social-emotional learning and civics unit. The kids could speak up for themselves but had no idea what words like advocate, speak up, or rights meant when we talked about standing up for yourself and others. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like advocate, speak up, rights, voice, support, help, justice, fair, change, and courage. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the advocacy vocabulary finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or indoor recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether advocating means the same as complaining. The crossword I use for partners or as a review. I added a couple simple megaphone, heart, and star drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 4th through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers write one thing they would advocate for on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

Farm Animals and Their Sounds word search, scramble and crossword
Holiday & Seasonal, ELA, Reading, Language Development, Vocabulary, Kindergarten, Word Searches, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables, Crosswords Puzzles
Farm Animals and Their Sounds word search, scramble and crossword ⭐ I made this farm animals and sounds puzzle set for my K-2nd graders when we were learning about farms in the spring. The kids kept mixing up which animal makes which noise, so I turned it into a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword. Words include cow, horse, pig, sheep, chicken, duck, goat, plus sounds like moo, neigh, oink, baa, cluck, quack, and bleat. Nothing complicated. ⭐ The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search is easy and good for a quiet warm-up. The scramble gets them laughing because they spell "oink" wrong half the time. The crossword is simple enough for most kindergarteners with a little help. I added small barn and animal drawings but kept it clean. ⭐ Works for Pre-K through 2nd grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have kids pick one animal and draw its sound bubble on the back. They love that part. Way better than another worksheet.

Holiday & Seasonal, ELA, Reading, Language Development, Vocabulary, Kindergarten, Grade 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, Word Searches, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables, Crosswords Puzzles
Vitamins and Minerals word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this vitamins and minerals puzzle set for my 3rd and 4th graders during our health and nutrition unit. The kids had heard that vitamins were good for you but had no idea what each one actually does or where to find them. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin D, calcium, iron, potassium, zinc, immune, bones, eyes, skin, blood, teeth, energy, and food. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the vocabulary finally make sense. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about which vitamin comes from oranges. The crossword I use for partners. I added a couple simple fruit, vegetable, and sun drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 3rd through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers name one food source for three different vitamins on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

The Grassland Biome word search, scramble and crossword ⭐I made this grassland biome puzzle set for my 3rd and 4th graders during our habitats unit. The kids remembered the rainforest and ocean but kept mixing up grasslands with deserts. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like savanna, prairie, zebra, lion, giraffe, elephant, grass, herd, and dry season. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the vocabulary stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search is good for quiet time after lunch. The scramble gets them talking because they argue over how to spell "giraffe" or forget the double letters. The crossword I save for partners. I added a couple simple grass and sun drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 2nd through 5th grade. Print and go. Environmental Leaders word search, scramble and crossword puzzle
Holiday & Seasonal, ELA, Reading, Language Development, Vocabulary, Not Grade Specific, Word Searches, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables
Environmental Leaders word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this environmental leaders puzzle set for my 4th and 5th graders during our Earth Day and biography unit. The kids could name a few people like Greta Thunberg and maybe David Attenborough, but they had no idea about the incredible diversity of leaders who have fought to protect our planet—from conservation pioneers like John Muir, who helped establish national parks and founded the Sierra Club, to modern scientists like Rachel Carson, whose book Silent Spring raised awareness about pesticides and helped launch the environmental movement . They also didn't know about key figures like Gifford Pinchot, who promoted the "resource conservation ethic" of sustainable use, Aldo Leopold, who developed the "evolutionary-ecological land ethic," and Gaylord Nelson, the U.S. senator credited with creating the first Earth Day in 1970 . So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using names like John Muir , Rachel Carson , David Attenborough , Aldo Leopold , Gifford Pinchot , Gaylord Nelson , Theodore Roosevelt , and Jane Goodall . I also added key terms like conservation , preservation , ecology , habitat , biodiversity , endangered , ecosystem , sustainability , and environmentalism because they show up in every conversation about protecting the planet . The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or independent practice. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about the difference between "conservation" and "preservation" or whether "John Muir" and "Gifford Pinchot" agreed on how to use public lands (they didn't, and the kids always have opinions about it). The crossword I use for partners or as a review after we've watched short biographies or read picture books about these leaders. I added a couple simple tree, Earth, and recycle symbol drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 4th through 6th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers pick one leader from the puzzles and write one fact about what they did for the environment on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

Disability Awareness Vocabulary word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this disability awareness vocabulary puzzle set for my 3rd and 4th graders during our social-emotional learning and inclusion unit. The kids could see differences but had no idea what words like disability, accessibility, or accommodation meant when we talked about how people have different abilities and needs. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like disability, accessibility, accommodation, support, inclusion, independence, ability, assistive, technology, and respect. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the vocabulary finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. Prefixes word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this prefixes puzzle set for my 3rd graders during our vocabulary unit. The kids could read words like "happy" but had no idea that adding "un" changed the meaning to "unhappy." So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words with common prefixes like un, re, pre, dis, mis, non, and bi. Examples include unhappy, undo, rewrite, replay, preheat, preview, disagree, dislike, misplace, misbehave, nonfiction, nonstop, bicycle, and bilingual. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the prefix meanings finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. Holiday & Seasonal, ELA, Reading, Language Development, Vocabulary, Not Grade Specific, Word Searches, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables
Media and Communication Careers word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this media and communication careers puzzle set for my 4th graders during our career exploration and media literacy unit. The kids could name a few jobs like reporter and photographer, but they had no idea about the range of careers in media—from podcast producer to social media manager—or what words like journalist, anchor, editor, and producer meant when we talked about how news and entertainment are made. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like journalist, broadcaster, editor, producer, photographer, public relations, social media, graphic designer, and copywriter. I also made sure to include "podcast," "script," and "broadcast" because they came up in our conversations about how media has changed. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or independent practice. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about the difference between a journalist and a reporter or whether a social media manager is the same as a content creator. The crossword I use for partners or as a review after we've watched a few short career videos. I added a couple simple microphone, camera, and newspaper drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 4th through 6th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers pick one media career from the puzzles and write what they do on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

Grade 5 Native American History word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this Native American history puzzle set for my 5th graders during our social studies unit. The kids knew a few tribe names but had no idea what words like confederation , reservation , or potlatch meant, and they kept mixing up which region each tribe belonged to. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using vocabulary from the major cultural regions—tribes like Iroquois , Sioux , Navajo , Apache , Cherokee , Hopi , Tlingit , and Blackfoot . I also included key terms like longhouse , tepee , pueblo , travois , wampum , totem pole , hogan , shaman , nomadic , and reservation . The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about which region the Iroquois lived in (Eastern Woodlands—they always debate it) or whether a tepee and a wigwam are the same thing (they're not) . The crossword I use for partners, and I usually have a cultural regions map nearby for the kids who need the visual support to connect each tribe to its environment . Works for 4th through 6th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers pick one tribe and write one way they adapted to their environment on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

The kids went crazy trying to be the first to unscramble words like "clue," "puzzle," and "decoder." It really got them in the right mindset before we started our actual escape challenges. You'll love using this when: Introducing escape room concepts Needing a quick warm-up activity Preparing for a classroom escape game Looking for a fun critical thinking exercise The first page has all the scrambled words in an easy-to-read format. The second page is your answer key - because we all know how crazy those escape room days can get! Some of the words I included: Locks (easy) Cipher (medium) Artifact (challenging) What worked great in my class was having students work in their escape teams to solve the scrambles. The competitive energy was awesome! You can also use it individually for early finishers. No fancy prep needed - just print and you're ready to go. I like to print mine on "top secret" colored paper to make it feel more special. Bonus teacher tip: Have students create their own scrambled words for classmates after they finish! Format: PDF (2 pages - game sheet + answers)

Linking Verbs word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this linking verbs puzzle set for my 3rd and 4th graders during our grammar unit. The kids could find action verbs easily but got confused when a verb like "is" or "seems" didn't show any action. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like is, am, are, was, were, be, being, been, become, becomes, became, seem, seems, seemed, appear, appears, appeared, feel, feels, felt, look, looks, looked, taste, tastes, and tasted. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the linking verbs finally click. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether "look" is always a linking verb or sometimes an action verb. The crossword I use for partners. I added a couple simple equal sign and arrow drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 3rd through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers write a sentence using "seems" as a linking verb on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.
