Product description
From the author
I made this vitamins and minerals puzzle set for my 3rd and 4th graders during our health and nutrition unit. The kids had heard that vitamins were good for you but had no idea what each one actually does or where to find them. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin D, vitamin E, vitamin K, B complex, calcium, iron, magnesium, potassium, zinc, sodium, iodine, selenium, and phosphorus. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the vocabulary finally make sense.
The download contains three two-page PDFs: three puzzles plus three answer pages, six pages total. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about which vitamin comes from oranges. The crossword I use for partners. I added a couple simple fruit, vegetable, and sun drawings but nothing too busy.
Works for 3rd through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers name one food source for three different vitamins on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.
