Advocacy Words word search, scramble and crossword puzzle

Advocacy Words word search, scramble and crossword puzzle
I made this advocacy words puzzle set for my 4th and 5th graders during our social-emotional learning and civics unit. The kids could speak up for themselves but had no idea what words like advocate, speak up, or rights meant when we talked about standing up for yourself and others. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like advocate, speak up, rights, voice, support, help, justice, fair, change, and courage. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the advocacy vocabulary finally stick.
The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or indoor recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether advocating means the same as complaining. The crossword I use for partners or as a review. I added a couple simple megaphone, heart, and star drawings but nothing too busy.
Works for 4th through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers write one thing they would advocate for on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.
