Aims and objectives To help children to learn: The sounds that each letter of the alphabet stands for To hear this sound at the beginning of words (initial sounds/beginning sound) To be able to form the letters of the alphabet correctly and link them to the sound each one stands for. What is included: 1 PDF with one page for each letter of the alphabet. Steps and order: Introduce the child to the sound and look for things that begin with each sound. You can use our video to help you to do this. Teach the child to write the letter. Then use the workbook to practice. Each page contains one object from the previous sound. Can th child remember how to write the sound for this picture? Can the child hear that the initial sound is different to that being studied? Assessment The adult should always assess while the child is working and ask: Is the child remembering the sound each letter makes? Can the child hear the correct initial sound?
