These nutrients include: water, protein, carbohydrates, fat, vitamins, and minerals. Students will learn the function of each of these nutrients and how they help our bodies as well. There is a matching activity to test their knowledge on each of these six basic nutrients. Students will also learn about how much of these nutrients we need to eat daily. Examples of what to eat and how much is provided in this unit that is similar to the food pyramid. Based on what they should eat, students will draw a healthy meal. There is also a lesson on physical activity and different physical activities they can do to stay healthy. This unit meets Common Core Standards. It is 11 pages of fun engaging activities! At the end of the unit, there is an assessment to check for understanding. There are seven units that cover all the health requirements for 3rd grade.
