Learning about history in social studies class can sometimes be exciting, but it can sometimes be challenging because students have a hard time making the historical connections. In order to ensure these lessons stick for students, we have to provide them with interactive and engaging resources. One topic that can benefit from engaging lessons is pioneer life. This is a Pioneer Child’s Life Diary Entry for students to complete when studying about the life of pioneer children. The objective of this lesson is for students to be able to understand the life of a pioneer child and be able to write successful diary entries that are reflective of a pioneer child. This is a resource that is most appropriate for 2nd grade students and higher. It is easily implemented with a social studies class where students have been studying pioneers. It is a 1-page printable that reflects diary entries. There is a blank diary entry on the left and right side of the page, giving students space to write 2 different entries. The journal entry on the left is dated with 1789. The journal entry on the right is dated with 20__. This allows students to take into account the differences in a pioneer child’s life based on time. This resource may be best utilized independently, so you can assess the writing mastery of each student. Future Simple Yes/No Questions Exercises and Answer Key
Grammar, Language Development, ELA, Not Grade Specific, Worksheets & Printables
Introduction I made this worksheet set after working with a group of students who kept mixing up word order whenever they tried to form yes/no questions in the future tense. They understood the grammar rule well enough when I explained it, but the moment they picked up a pen, things fell apart. So I put together these exercises to give them a chance to practice the same structure over and over, in slightly different ways, until it started to click. What Students Practice The main focus is forming yes/no questions with will and writing short answers — both affirmative ( Yes, he will. ) and negative ( No, she won't. ). These are small things, but students get them wrong constantly, and drilling them in a low-pressure worksheet format genuinely helps. What's in the Resource Six exercise sections, no prep needed on your end: Completing unfinished questions Unscrambling words to form correct questions Writing short affirmative and negative answers Choosing the right option in multiple-choice questions Finding and correcting errors in sentences A mixed activity that combines everything above An answer key is included so you're not spending extra time marking. Who This Works For I had Grades 5–8 in mind, but it works just as well for older ESL/EFL students who are reviewing the basics. It's simple enough to assign as homework or pull out as a last-minute filler activity. Format PDF, printable, non-editable. Print and hand it out — that's it.
