Dance Vocabulary word search, scramble and crossword puzzle

I made this dance vocabulary puzzle set for my 2nd and 3rd graders during our movement and dance unit. The kids could move to music but had no idea what words like rhythm, balance, or choreography meant when I tried to teach them basic dance concepts. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like dance, rhythm, beat, tempo, choreography, formation, balance, flexibility, movement, leap, turn, spin, slide, stomp, clap, partner, group, performance, and stage. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the dance vocabulary finally stick.

The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or PE. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether choreography is just planning a dance or actually doing it. The crossword I use for partners or as a review before a performance. I added a couple simple dancer silhouette and musical note drawings but nothing too busy.

Works for 2nd through 4th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers name one dance move they learned on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.
