This ready-to-use set of TED Talk handouts. They can be used with ANY TED Talk! You can pick which of the 4 handout styles you want and provide them to your students to fill out while watching a TED Talk.

The purpose of these handouts is for students to demonstrate abilities to analyze, summarize, give opinion, and overall demonstrate comprehension of the TED Talk.

You can print these out and use it in a traditional way or allow your students to complete these TED Talk worksheets on a Chromebook, iPad or any other BYOD. These 4 TED Talk worksheets come on an editable Google Slide!

Learning objectives

Students will identify a speaker's purpose in a TED Talk and state whether they agree with the speaker's argument.
Students will collect vocabulary and quotations from a talk and use them to write a summary.
Students will reflect on how a talk connects to their own life and how it changed their thinking.

Teaching tips

Before sharing the file with students, delete the intro and setup slides and keep only the one or two response styles you plan to use, as the setup guide suggests.
Match the style to your goal: use the four-quadrant Connections/Challenges/Concepts/Changes page for open discussion prep, and the Words/Quotes/Summary page when you want students building a citation-ready reference of the talk.

Can this be used with any TED Talk, or only specific ones?

It works with any TED Talk a teacher chooses -- the worksheets ask general questions about purpose, quotes, and reflection rather than referencing a specific talk.

How do the digital and printable versions differ?

Both versions ask the same questions in the same four styles; the printable version has printed answer lines for a paper handout, while the digital version leaves open blank space designed for students to type their answers directly into the slide.
