Drug and Alcohol Awareness word search, scramble and crossword puzzle

I made this drug and alcohol awareness puzzle set for my 4th and 5th graders during our health unit. The kids had heard about drugs and alcohol but had no idea what medicine was safe versus what was dangerous, or why adults could drink but kids couldn't. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like medicine, prescription, doctor, pharmacy, label, dosage, safe, unsafe, drug, alcohol, tobacco, nicotine, cigarette, vape, poison, addiction, brain, body, health, risk, and peer pressure. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the awareness vocabulary finally stick in an age-appropriate way.

The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether medicine from a doctor can ever be dangerous. The crossword I use for partners. I added a couple simple medicine bottle, question mark, and brain drawings but nothing too busy.

Works for 4th through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers write one rule about taking medicine on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.
